Did he ever mention what he is using for an ECU and intercooling?

yes sir.. i have an m-90 on the way... I just have a few questions...

As far as your fuel supply, are you using an aftermarket, boost depenant fuel pressure regulator?

Also im looking for a pulley for the supercharger, but if that fails, i want to just straight up use a serpentine setup on mine... where can i find these pulley's?

Also, what kind of bypass valve is that? is it necessary to use that valve if i am going to run stand-alone?

Im probably going to use a turbo xs BOV if needed.

As far as retarding timing under boost, i want to be safe. I was thinking about using the 12a Turbo distributor, which retards timing under boost, and i beleive i can get ahold of one (i have a good friend in japan).. Will this combination work? If not then what do you suggest?

I will be running 460cc's primarys, and 550's secondaries.

Is the stock FPR usable for this application?

Thanks, Justin

Yeah, where's your fuel pressure riser? I would have done this by now but the ECU and intercooling issue is an expensive one to tackle. Fabbing the SC on is not all there is to it. How long has it been on the car? That V belt is pretty small to transmit that much power at higher engine speeds.

It's a great effort but some details don't look right. The TII runs 7 psi but has a knock box, larger injectors / fuel pump, different ecu and pressure sensor, and an intercooler. Oh well.

im wondering about the belt as well. i dont think its gonna be able to handle much power. might have to get a dual pully and maybe use the AC's pully?

I know for a fact that the N/A fuel system (with a larger pump) can support 10psi on a turbo slightly larger than a stock one, that is with an aftermarket computer though. It has also been my experience that the stock N/A AFM maxes out at around 7psi in 4th gear with a stock turbo

How this all relates to this specific supercharger? I'm not 100% sure, but i'd bet that 7psi on the stock system would work ok, personally i'd add a bigger pump and probably an SAFC at a bare minium though.

Either way, this certainly is an interesting option.

To the original poster, what is the power band like? obviously it would haul down low, whats it like near redline? does the boost drop off at all?

Are you sure not running an intercooler won't be an issue? (I know that's a double negative.. but who the **** cares)

As Santiago pointed out to me, a stock TII boosting 5.5psi on even lower compression rotors (I have a S4 shortblock, with S5 intake and longblock accessories) and they are intercooled.

Even so, this will be a project I'm going to take on

well, atkins is running 8 - 9 psi on the turbo block without intercooling... and thats with their horribly inneficient roots blower... with a centrifugal, whipple, or twisted roots you should be able to boost at least 7 psi on the n/a block without a problem....

yes adding a intercooler would increase power by bringing down intake temps, but i dont think its nessasary for safety... i have a feeling mazda incorperated it into the factory turbo design more for increased performance rather than solely to prevent detonation

also, the nelson/paxton blower made in the past did not use an intercooler and i dont think there were detontation issues with it (just overspinning the s/c and the bracket breaking :p )

Ah well, blowing my motor will just give me more incentive to do a TII swap

Seriously though.. if this guy's setup seems to be working OK for now, I guess it'll work.

If you don't mind tearing your **** down (maybe when you put your BOV on) take some goood pics of your mounting brackets, and where exactly on the block you're talking about.

Are you using the A/C or P/S belt?

I wonder if there is any way to pull off using both... I kinda like my A/C in 102 degree 100 percent humidity! As well as P/S... daily beater

Man I am getting hyped as HELL about this.

say you have the stock n/a cpu + fuel system.....any upgrades needed for ~7psi? will it detonate?

I think I would atleast upgrade to TII injectors/pump.

I will be upgrading the primaries and secondaries.. to stock TII levels, with a S-AFC II.

I dont know though... I've read that the stock fuel settings are pretty rich throughout the powerband.

Turbos because of the way they work (hot exhaust gases flowing through the compressor) will always run hotter than a supercharger. A supercharger can heat up too though, but I suspect at low boost it probably stays pretty cool without an intercooler. An intercooler wouldn't definitely not hurt it though.

Enough to break the NA tranny and other driveline components.

I think the N/A tranny and driveline is strong enough. I mean, as far as I know, isn't Aaron Cake running the n/a tranny and stuff still with his turbo and all? I haven't heard him having any problems with it.

Mine broke the first time I ever took it down to the circuit, when I had the turbo on.... So yeah, I think they're too weak..
It all depends how you drive your car really.

I need to find out how to prep the NA fuel system properly to deal with a supercharger. I dont know about just an S-AFC. Timing will have to be changed as well . . .

sure, there's n/a automatic to n/a mnual write ups......but how difficult is gonna be to swap the tii tranny, rearend + such in ?
