my lack of power the latest instalment

this is from my no power episode. for those of you who dont know what I am talking about, https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...4#post1733664. Well. I broke down entire intake from air box to upper intake manifold and scrubed down with brake cleaner and water and air dried, AFM the whole deal. them I stared the car, and sprayed Amsoil powerfoam into the "butterflies",and ran it at 2000 and the car smoked, as expected, then I drove it and it was clear again. the problem still persists though.

BUT.

I could pull the spark to any plug (only tried one at a time) and the car didnt run any different.

Maybe its the timing? can timing just go all the sudden when driving.

again...starts, idles at 750, little power through all rpms, have compression and 3 humps on the gauge as well. cleaned intake, checked vacume, replaced with silicone last year, pretty good I thought and I had sparks going to all plugs. if it were a piston engine Id say it was timing or ...I dunno...

OH YEAH...and my boost guage, VDO, is bouncing in place. it rises with boost, it bounces there as it gains.

and gauges all read fine, Oil pres. temp. ect. checked exhaust components from underneath car, while running...looked fine, couldnt detect a leak. there is a little bit of gas on plugs when I pull them out.

thanks

jared

the engine was built by Atkins and its 4k old

That's odd about the spark. You should notice some difference when wires disconnected. While car at idle disconnect the leading igniter and see if the car runs on only the trailing plugs. It will idle lower, but it will continue to run.
Then try the reversal to be certain the leading is firing.

compression test. Fuel filter replacement. tune up. hit cat really hard with a big hammer then go rev the engine and blow all that crap that restricts flow out.

who'd have guessed that people would be so scared of a little 1.3 liter engine?

No, I havent yet. I do plan on it, but I just completely took apart the car "again". I mean completely! Its in boxes. I am having more frame work done before I have it painted. Its really a show car thats just not done yet, so I do plan on beating the life out of it untill its done. But I am like everyone else on this site right now, I can only guess as to how fast it really is. But my guess is low 11's. In first it pulls the front tires off the ground when it catches traction.
