is my intercooler too big?

i have an 88 T2. i just bought an intercooler for it. the core measures 23"x 13"x 3" with 3" inlets and outlets. i was told it may be too big to run with my stock turbo. they said it may not hurt me just may not give me much if any extra horsepower. is this true? if so what turbo should i run with it? thanks!

yeah it might be too big. I bought an FMIC that measures 22x8x2. To fit that thing since its not designed for my 87TII i have to cut some supports. Kinda pain in the *** but it was fun cutting my car!..LOL..j/k i love my 7!..As far as performance for the IC that you bought my answer is i dont know. If you want to go ahead and use the IC i would say get a bigger TURBO to balance it out. Im getting my stock 89 turbo compressor upgrade. GOOD LUCK.

You will have more turbo lag, but that IC will most likely yield better efficiency and a lower pressure drop than a smaller IC. I would try it out to see how you like the car before you replace your perfectly good turbo with a big-$ aftermarket unit.
