If the damage is only around the exhaust port area it wouldnt have much impact, you'd just have to be careful to put the triangle corner piece (if using 3 piece apex seals) on the side without the gouges. If 2 or 1 piece apex seals then no worries.


It won't affect compression at all when in the area of the "power stroke", however, if the groove extends far ahead of the exhaust port it will hurt the power output a bit and dillute the intake charge further... something that already happens with the peripheral exhaust port.

Im gonna try to post better pics tonite. I really do not want to invest money into this engine anymore then I need to. This engine is really only for this year as I plan a build for next winter with a mix of parts to give me higher RPM, power output and newer parts. I just want to get the damn car on the road and be reliable for the summer.
