My homemade FTPS

i got tired of not having FTPS i hate when people take them out.. so i made my own...... heres what they look like.. unfortunantly after installing them lastnight i washed the car and the light were so hot that the water shatter the fog lenses... you can see it when you look up close.. i took the pics this morning... ill be redoing them so they look perfect.. but they dont look bad as is ... FLAME ON FLAMERs(puts up his anti-hate sheilds) links coming

i did same thing couple yrs ago, installed fog lights behind the FTP lense by cutting the back of the FTP off too fit them, on my last rx-7, they looked pretty good, i actually drove by a cop at nite with the popups down parking lights and my ftp fog lights on, and he didn't pull me over! i used 100 watt bulbs,

i actually found a small head light for some GM car, that might be posible to rig up behind the lense, its quite cramed back there with how the stock lights move up and down, one of these days im gonna try it and see how it goes.... i think i can make it fit and functional

here is your image haha, you put ""

I like that. I had the same idea as kompressorlogic finding a small headlight like out of a 4thgen camaro or something. (also put son flame suit because I like something not stock)

Looks like HID xenon bulbs. The casing gives it away some to someone that is paying attention that they are not factory inset HIDS. It looks good and unique. I do not see how it can possible put out enough light to pass as a head light.

I did similar to my MX5. I took the corners and cutout the far corner not used in ASPEC MX5's and put my blinkers into there and put halogen projectors where the signals used to go. Worked in the city with streetlights. When I came back home to BFE I could not see a damnd thing!

they are foglights not headlights.. thats what i have headlights for. and HIDs.. high intesity discharge.. is a projector setup when they are that small those are not projectors. im not trying to imitate the lastest craze in headlighting tech just keeping it simple. they are foglights and never will be pawned off as anything else.. and i carved those lensed from scratch with a dremel. they are also bent by heat

i think i found what hte suitable headlights are from, eithe ra 93-96 pontiac grand prix or, another car i noticed with small ones was 86-88s 300zx if you look they had pop ups but they had a normal size dhead light with another very small headlight mounted sideways next to it

might try using the plexiglass lense, because the old ones are pretty faded and pitted.... even after buffing them out... they dont seem to reflect light out them very well either...

looks good . i bet it does look mean at dask coming down the road with the stock fogs on . do you have yellow bulbs in the stock . i'll have to post a pick really quick of what mine look like fogs

i did a ftp trick with mine the other week but nothing like yours i just spiced a ground in to the headlight switch and then put a switch at the end of the ground so i can turn them on and off(ground , unground) when i like and still use my headlights with the motors working and everything. if anyone would like to know what wire it is i can take a look really quick cause i already forgot .

sorry for the h/j but its a great mod either way

sorry again for the h/j but i got the pic's and what wire to splice into. as far as the wire go you need to disconnect the plug from the switch .so after thats done look at the plug as if its still connected to the switch thewire is a red with a white strip bottom row all the way to the left 2nd wire . all you need to do is splice in a wire and run it to where ever you want your switch to be run,. then from the switch run a wire to what ever ground is close by . so now when ever the switch is on its grounded when off its off of course. hope this helps and sorry if its a repost . the great thing about this mod is that you can still raise and lower your headlights like normal . heres the pic's of my setup.

with headlights lowered :

amd with headlights normal:

the ftp mod is great and makes it look clean at dask thats for sure
