my GTUs keeps going into limp mode. error code 27.

soo i bought a 1990 GTUs a week ago now, and i noticed right away she was going into limp mode.

the car runs fine, i can drive up to 3rd gear till it hits limp mode.

soo a friend and i pulled the error code, and it came up with error code 27

* 27 - MOP (General) - Basic Fuel Injection and fixed timing

soo we did my timing, it was WAYY off, but we tested the plugs on the secondary injectors,

turns out im not getting a signal on the secondary injectors from the ecu.

soo im not sure what to do..

what could cause the secondary injectors not to fire?

any ideas???

you should read a little more of the manual.

code 27 means there is a problem with the oil metering pump. when the ecu sees this problem, it goes into limp home. the fixed timing and fuel are how it protects the engine.

the fix is in the FSM, you check the continuity to the ecu, and if its good replace the metering pump

I had the same symptoms, except I also got 26 as well as 27. I was running on a new OMP so i figured that couldn't be it. Swapped the ECU with another Vert Manual and NA and it fixed it, WALA the car runs brand new.

Not sure if thats your problem though...

Do not drive the car when it is throwing the MOP code unless you have a 100:1 premix oil ration in the gas tank!!! The code means that for whatever reason the OMP is not injecting oil and if your run it like this you WILL dammage the motor. Keep running the premix untill you are sufficiently satisfied that the problem is fixed.
