Question My gearbox sounds like a BOV

Recently I have noticed that my gearbox makes a swooshing sound when changing from first to second and on to third gear. It is barely noticable but its there when the radio is off.

All new greasy oil(80/90w), im thinking that it could be regular wear as im running a pretty strong motor on my N/A box.

Any ideas ???

I always go to Mazdatrix for my problems. It doesn't really describe your problem here, but it might be able to help you out.

Are you sure thats not the pilot bearing? Or the synchros for that matter... I'd be happier with a quiet driveline personaly.

Agreed. 'specially after my tranny locked up in first with the broken shift fork, except outta gear. I say find out what the problem is FAST, so you don't end up like me!!!

Change out the gear lube in the tranny, it makes an incredible difference if you use some decent gear lube, considering its probably never been changed in the history of the car anyhow.

heh. I've changed mine twice since i got my car 3 months ago. I've got redline in mine and it makes a swoosh sound too. my syncro in seccond is completely shot though, so I'm pretty sure it's that. gotta wait for 600$ to get pineapple to rebuild it.

Pilot and throwout bearings were changed 7000km ago when I rebuild my motor.

Could the Pilot bearing not be seated right, because it only appears when I feed the beast a new gear.
