My first rx-7, is it rare?
I just purchase my first rx7. Its a 89 Mazda rx-7. I was inform from a friend of mine that its pretty rare. Its a gtu with sunroof, front lip, s5 tail light, rear spoiler, and best of all its a 2+2
However the body is in rough shape and the motor runs rough. Im working on getting it to run in top shape

well, i would say its kindof rare becaue it has back seats and power steering, but thats about it. its really not going to be worth a hole lot more because those are very menial things. the chin spioler looks like and odura or equivilant, almost all gtu's (not GTUs) have sun roofs, but if you find one that does not have a sun roof then your in business. It also looks like some one ganked your good driver sided s5 mirror and replaced it with a ugly s4 N/A mirror. the body looks a little rough but not unfixible. it looks like a good start for a project.

Well, look. All S5's are really the car to have. In that regard you did well. Is it rare? Not really, unless someone is looking for the rear seats.
What you've got is a base model...GTU. It came with the base options including the one piece front buckets, herringbone cloth in most cases.
What your friend is referring to...maybe, without reading his/her mind...is the GTUs. For one thing that vehicle did not have a sunroof and 16 in wheels, neither of which you have, judging from the pictures. There are other differences, but those are some of the big ones.
I'm not insulting your car, just giving you some information which you can, of course, research yourself. The books by Yamaguchi and Brian Long are good starting points.
Oh, buy or obtain a factory service manual. You'll need it.
Good call on the mirror. Someone did you wrong by putting that on your car. Taillights are stock. Don't let anyone talk you out of them. Change the mirror. Front spoiler looks stock...

Pretty standard base model 89...
almost all S5 models had factory power sunroofs, and all S5 models had power steering, rear spoiler, and S5 tail lights.
