I just bought a 88 RX-7 NA w/ 140k on it for 2k. I will post pics later on. I was wondering about what type my car was. I have heard people talking about GTU. I am not sure if mine is or not.

I have the small spoiler on the back and it is a 2 seater with the little storage bins and a sunroof. Do any of these help identify it?

I am planning on putting a street ported engine in with maybe some lower compression rotors from the later years so i could add a turbo on later.

A quick question. I am in Arizona and have to pass emissions. What type of potrs could i get away with and still pass emissions. I have heard that streets are the way to go.

 

Welcome to the famed rx7 forum...... grats on your buy.. I have a similar purchase.... 136k miles on an 86 N/A for 2k.... it blew on me very soon after that....

Aaron Cake is the Man... and he knows his stuff... But he is going through a LOT of work from what it looks to me.. and a buttload of custom work to add a turbo to his N/A... as most would tell you.. be cheaper, easier, and probably better in long run to purchase a TII to start with... Just a thought...
what do you plan on doing with your seven ? Just street? Autocross? Drag ?
no clue about emissions.. I live in Omaha NE where we don't have emissions... I have no cats... and no emissions equip at all... oh yea

I believe it's a GTU.... most gtu's I've seen, they have a spoiler in the back.
