my final exhaust discussion

i think this is what ive been looking for:

i need a quality catback, it is for an n/a, and it needs to be somewhat cheap.

the corksport 'power series'. it goes down to 2.5" at the end, so that would create the back pressure i need for my n/a right???? so......TELL me this would work. what kind of fabrication would be involved to connect it to headers?

is this a poor quality cat back though>?

im sorry i have so many posts about catbacks. but it always ends up looking towards thousands of dollars worth of stuff and i cant offoord that. but think of it as its helping all the other kids with little money who need a catback.

Ok first of all I don't know what exhaust you currently have but I will assume stock with emissions(cats) if you have: cats, hi-flow cats, or a presilencer like the one from RB most cat-backs will be sufficient to allow your ports to open(I am assuming you have an S4). If you do not then no cat-back will provide enough backpressure for the ports to open. You can get something cheap like the RP cat-back from rx7.com or the corksport cat-back(I personaly don't like single exit on an FC but if you do I guess its your choice) those have been mentioned as the most affordable solutions to a cat-back replacement.

Now if you have something along the lines of a race/staight pipe setup you will need to find another way to open up your auxilary ports since you don't have something that is hooked up to the ports to make them function. There are alternatives to back pressure and the air pump on S5's but I have no idea how or what is involved so don't ask me because a retarded monkey would be more qualifyied on that subject. What I tell people to do for that is to get the RB header pre-silencer combo with the H-fitting for the ports. IMO RB has a very resonable price on that setup.

A full collected exhaust can cost a lot less than 1k dollars if you really need it to be that low.

I will come back with some numbers for you in just a couple of minutes so you can see what I mean.

i dont have aux. ports anymore, they were taken out/. will the rb header and presilencer be a DIRECT replacment of the cats? i need something to fit the headers and take a DIRECT replacment of the cats so it could bolt into the corksport catback.

I have a spare set of actuators and sleeves I could sell you if you want. If you want it that way though why in the world do you want backpressure? you already have very little low end why not go all out?

Auxilary ports stay closed in the lower RPMs to provide a bit more torque down low and open up at abou 3800 RPMs to provide additional air to the mix to maximize HP up top.

As for what to put in there to make them open up the setup I have outlined would provide port functionality and reduce exhaust note volume over a race pipe situation which is probably annoying after driving the car for a while.

PS if you want the stuff PM me.

What a damn rip for a bunch of pipes, I hand made my entire exhaust system for less than $160 that was everything from the exhaust manifold the high flow cat, muffler and tailpipe. Just make sure you do your research so you know what your doing.

Well like I have said if you can get the same quality, performance, apperance, and durability I don't really care but I do not have a mandrell bender machine or whatever you call it nor do I have the means to make a muffler like the RB one the same goes for their silencers.

Would definitely like to see your write-up on this or at least get some more details...

The extra cash is because their components are designed for the rotary and will not burn out or rust out easily or quickly and you are paying for their GOOD reputation and the time and effort they put into developing these products. QUALITY costs money if I could do what RB and MT did for the true duals I would have made them myself. If you want 50 dollar mufflers that will burn out in an hour and procede to sound like monkey **** then you go ahead. I rather like the fact my exhaust will outlast those knock-offs.
