The stock manifold is ****, the only real increse in power comes from the headers. The rest is in your mind (or maybe your diet? ).

Eh, I bough my RX7 after having driven a 91 Celica GT. At that point, the rx7 engine was blown, and it STILL felt faster than the Celica to me. I guess fast is a very subjective matter. Sounds like you have a pretty good build for an s4 n/a, though.

For optimum performance gains for this application, we recommend that a header be used on an engine configured with a carburetor intake system. For this reason, we suggest another suitable configuration for use on a fuel-injected engine is the Racing Beat Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe with Presilencer combo. These components offer comparable performance gains, quieter performance and a price advantage as compared with the header/presilencer combination
This was taken from Racing Beat's website and they seem to think that using a test pipe with downpipe is a better idea for fuel injected cars as opposed to getting the header if you aren't going to run carbs.

In regards to the Presilencer, RB should really take out the "quieter performance" portion... the presilencer is as quiet as a free-flow cat. And that isn't very quiet.
