my exhaust is too loud...

ummm yeah i got my 3 inch custom exhaust on today....RB downpipe, High Capacity Cat, IMCO muffler, and its really loud....how can i make its quiet...i dont know if ill pass inspection, and my dad is kinda unhappy about it. ummmm this isnt good...is a resonator gonna do much? what can i do to fix this? i told him it was loud cause its a wankel but he didnt seem to like that explanation. haha oh well...lemme know if you guys have come up with some cheap ways to quiet the loud exhaust as i have already spent all my money on the exhaust....

first...that exhaust route isn't safe at all considering you have none of the supporting mods.

Second, you've done about all you can to keep an open exhaust quiet. Be lucky you don't have an N/A. Did the muffler not come with a silencer?

a friend of mine has a ford focus with a Jackson Racing Supercharger W/ big boost kit and he has a custom catless exhaust, it was loud as *****, you couldnt even hear the blower, like i mean a mile away you could hear this thing.

he got a Magnaflow Magnapack resonator (i think a 14"one) and at idle it was a bit quiter but prity much the same, but at speed all you head was blower it was much much quieter

quit being a baby and redline it after you shift to blow out even more stuff that makes it less loud. fight the power.

Shitcan that riceboy single exhaust and get the RACING BEAT mufflers

It'll only be loud when you WANT it to be loud.. thats the beauty of Racing Beats.

They wont wake up dad when you cruise home late at night, but when you hit the boost... they'll roar like a tiger with a sore ***!!

Thoguh I can't think of much else the typical ford is good for, their I4's sound really excellent with open exhausts...

Well..... SELL THAT OTHER STUFF, and get your dad to cough up the other 175-250 (depending on if you get the 2.5 or 3" stuff) that you need for the RB stuff since he hates it so much!!!!!!

I'll send him a sound clip of my car at idle and cruze if you think it'll help!!!!!

So True! I LOVE the sound RB stuff puts out. With the top down, roaring thru tunnels or under bridges is quite an experience.

it did have a very nice tone to it, but the thing with being daily driven makes that not too nice to hear over your music everyday.

The new focus's with the Duratec engines sound amazing with a full catless exhaust take my advise and try to find a video its nice

You want really quiet, get a baffled muffler.
This will guarantee it'll get quieter.

Now, I dunno what an "IMCO muffler" is, but I bet it's a straight-through?

If you're looking to keep as much performance as you can, try to get a straight-through "offset" muffler.
This will quiet down the exhaust as much as possible, but yet allow enough exhaust gas flow to keep much of your performance.
I know Walker Dynomax UltraFLO and Magnaflow both make mufflers like this.

If you want to keep straight through mufflers, get two Dynomax Bullets and pop them into the exhaust system, somewhere in the middle. They don't take up much room at all (4-inch case), and they're about 20" long, but DAMN do they work. They don't restrict flow, either. I have a 3" exhaust that goes through one Bullet, and then splits off into dual 2.5" with racing beat mufflers on either side. It's QUIET.
