My Exhaust Options...

Ok, i'm on a VERY limited budget. I want to be able to pay for gas, get some parts that might give me some extra performance, but not be a slave to this car where i'm putting all my extra money (extra money is pretty much the money left over after paying for gas and the essentials on this car from my work money) into it. After looking around for a while, i've decided that I really cant afford gutting my exhaust. I could probably pay the prices for the original exhaust equiptment, but then I hear you have to add a bunch of other things as to not screw over the engine. What would be the cheapest SINGLE (i mean like buy one part to replace something else single) thing I could buy that would give me some extra power? I also want to get a nice deep bass sound from the car, but not like ricey sounding thing. Would a high flow muffler give me any extra power, or would I just be buying a car loudener with no power, or minimal power side effects? So in the end, my question is, what is the cheapest thing i could get (or multiple things) that would give me the most power, and remember, when I mean cheap, i mean under $400 TOPS. Is that too low of a price range to even bother getting something?

How much performance difference do you think that would give me over just getting higher flow mufflers? Also if I were to buy that, would I need any other things replaced/upgraded to handle it?

Take it to a muffler shop. thats is. always the cheapest way to go.
