My exhaust got me arrested Friday night for drivin under suspension

so sad, I was just about to get my license back this week, so friday I had my girlfriend up here from FL, and my mom wanted us to go to bingo with her. I figured no big deal, I could drive one night out there. Well my exhaust is really nothing special, I havent any precats, just a bonez highflow-and minus mufflers, just straight pipes. It sounds like a crotch rocket totally. Well I was coming home and a cop happened to get behind me at a light and he pulled me over a mile up the road after radaring the hell out of me, I was going exactly the speed limit so he pulled me over for exhaust notes just to be a *****. Worst part-as my hands were on the back hatch I look into my rear view mirror and see tears rolling down my girls face.

dude that really sucks. That was too mean to the cop to arrest you. He didnt have to go that far though. I think a fix it ticket would be sufficient.

Damn man, i know how you feel, me and my freind were "street racing" (he had an 86 base) going like 50 in a 45 (i guess just excessive acceleration or something) and he pulled our asses over after we pulled in the place were were going to (the bowling ally) and took us to freaking jail. They let us go at 1 30 in the morning, sucked ***. I would suggest getting a lawyer, it got my license back. good luck man

You guys seem to miss the point..
He was driving without a license...

Don't mean to be harsh, but you lost your license for one reason or another.. You took your chance and decided to drive illegally..
You got caught.. perhaps this time it will teach you not to do it again..

You can't really put any blame on the cop in this..

Um, let me get this straight, you think that you can drive around town incognito with no mufflers on an NA rotary? Since you are obviously totally deaf, let me tell you what an NA rotary sounds like without mufflers: "Rummmmmmmm Atttention all cops within 5 miles Rummmmmm I dare you to give me a ticket Rummmmmm it's sooooo easy to find me Rummmmmmm and I'll give you really bad headache with this annoying noise so that you are really pissed, too! Rummmmm!"

I hope that (More Coming, trust me) includes mufflers. I also hope that you learned from this so that maybe you can contribute more to the rotary automotive world than just making license plates for a living.

I'm so glad to see some reason enter this thread from Chris Ng on down. Let's see - I'm breaking multiple laws at a time and I get caught. Should I be surprised? Sorry to hear you'll be license-less for more time, but you knew the chance you were taking.

No pity here. At least it looks like you are finally taking some responsibility for your actions. Why don't you take some more responsibility with your life so that your GF doesn't have to worry about you all the time? Besides, it looks like it would do you some good. Today would be a good day to start.

Nicely put PJ, she knew I would get in trouble but I told her Id only lose my license for longer. I said this just so she wouldnt worry-she came up from FL so we didnt really have a choice but to drive my 7 around. It wouldve been totally different if she could drive stick, but teaching her was outta the question since my manifold gasket was blown and the car wouldnt idle-it woulda been too much for her to handle, she wouldnt be able to side step the brake and the gas to keep it running on top of remembering everything else. Speaking of running, If I woulda been in my own town when I got pulled over I probally woulda thought about it for a split second-but not with her in the car.

First off, get a lawyer.
Secondly, find out if they can instigate the pulling over process due to exhaust noise. Is exhaust noise an offense in your area? You can see where I am going with this, if he had no reason to pull you over than the stop wasn't warranted.

Just an idea.

yea if the cop fucked up for pulling u over for no reason then go to court and u will get your license back. Unless there is a law there for loud exhaust but i dont imagine it would be too loud if u were on the highway because the rpm's about 3 to 4 grand r really quite and u cant even hear it if u get the right rpm's.

what did u lose your license for in the first place??

I think everywhere will have some sort of noise limit. it might be high. but probably still lower then your car and 2nd they don't need a reason to pull you over. his reason could be "I didn't think he had a licence". and guess what, you didn't. what would happen if he didn't pull you over because "he had no reason". and 2 blocks later you crashed into someone having no licence...

stop passing the blame for something YOU did wrong, not the cop.

I agree. Don't look for an out. Like they say, "don't do the crime if you can't do the time". You knew there was a possibility of getting busted for the exhaust and you deffinitely knew you were breaking the law for driving without a licence. Unfortunately for you you got caught. A little advice if you don't mind...After your licence is suspended for longer, if you feel the need to drive, do yourself a favor and don't choose an NA rotary with no exhaust.
When you go to court you can play the devoted son and tell him you were doing it all for your mom but don't be surprised if he becomes a smartass and says "It was nice of you to drive your mother that night but she can return the favor now and drive you around for the next year."

BTW, do you mind telling us why you were suspended to begin with?? That could possibly be a very large contributing factor as to why you got arrested.

I never blamed the cop in the first place, I said I knew I was in the wrong. Thats just everybody elses opinions. Yes, there is a noise limit around here, I dont know what it is, but my car was too damn loud. At least now its toned down twice as much because I replaced my base intake manifold gasket. ANYWAYS AS I WAS GONNA SAY-I went to court today so check out my post.

It was a 12pt. suspension, DUI(6),speeding(2), speeding again(2) and a fender bender(2)=12

Whats with everyone sayin a N/A without mufflers is crazy? Whats the difference of a turbo without them?

Because of how a turbo is spun - the exhaust has a chance to quiet down blowing through the turbo before exiting the tail pipe.
