I'm not leaving

My interests have just changed is all... And it didn't blow! It just had a simple oil issue that could have been fixed in less than one night :|

And Karack - Yah it was a tough decision, but I realized selling it whole wouldn't have even gotten me 1/4 of what I put into it, I'm hoping to get 1/3 to 1/2 of my investment by parting and selling the shell, but we'll see.

yeah i know, i meant i would've done it right and then parted it out, we all know when you modify an FC you have already chosen to take a huge hit and sell it complete or take a slightly less hit and part it out.

i always laugh when people say building these cars is simple because you can almost bet those people have run into some rather shitty times with their cars.

and i know the feeling when you get tired of a project because it bites and starts taking a big chunk of your wallet, makes for some tough decisions.

it would've also been worth your efforts to fix the engine, someone would probably pay a decent price for a heavily modified low mileage n/a but not knowing what happened i would say the engine isn't worth a whole lot anymore until torn down and inspected.

how about if that car hasn't run since 1995. You start it up and it almost kills the three people standing next to it? It looked like the guys house was on fire.

Huh?

What are you talking about? I hope not my car.... the smoke in the videos was the engine assembly lube burning off. When the oil issue occured there was more smoke obviously, but a while after those videos were taken the smoke was already nearly gone.

most of the time and worst occasions of smoke is coolant accumulated in the downpipe and catalytic converter. i smoked out a complete football game when i started my car after a coolant seal failure and i could hear quite a few people yelling "look! his car's on fire!", lol.

Ddub, I really think you should just take a break from the car. After all this time, thought, documentation and cost you need closure. Your not the only rotor head to have expensive and frustrating set backs. Whatever route you choose it most likely involves removing that engine right? Since you cant get your money back. Just my opinion but why not remove the engine as you know it only takes a couple hours. Once its removed I bet you'll find the motivation to tear it down carefully and replace the oil o rings. And see what else is up inside there. For 300.00 or so you can have that engine working and this time monitor oil pressure. I read through most of your post here and really enjoyed it..and can relate to all of it. Im not being a dick just giving my opinion and hoping youll give it one last try. You can still reduce your oil pressure easily by putting in a stock oil pressure reg and make life simple. Also add in a pre silencer to quiet it down. I just think youve come to far to not finish it. RX7's are not easy to work on,modify or repair mainly because the engine is not typical. As that one post say's it it was easy anyone could do it. Please take a break recover finacially..mentally and give it one more go. I've had to do this with my 7 many times ask Muy...lol. When I was 20 I owned a beautiful peral white first gem..I repainted it. I lost my temper one day workin on it and smashed the hell out of it with a piece of water pipe. I walked around it and smashed every body panel and window. Every time I get frustrated or angry I think back on that. Things could always be worse. Shawn

Well I just posted that so he could see things could always be a lot worse. I went postal was a long time ago. It wasnt after a single day of frustration its a long story. I still think Ddub needs to fix his car though. Trying to sell a non running car is like trying to sell dog ****. I was just hoping to encourage him a bit....say what you want about me. I thought this would be a place where fellow rotor heads could possibly relate. Im sure other RX owners have lost thier tempers just hope it wasnt as severe as me.

Lost it, but maybe about half as bad as yours. Well, with the S5 vert (windsheild, drivers mirror, and rear drivers body). With the S4 TII, I got torch happy and cut it up into very many little pieces.

This is turning into whats the dumbest thing youv done...lol. I recieved a parts car for free last winter. It was a GSL-SE . The car was sooooo rusted the body just couldnt be used for anything. I removed every useable part, then cut it into lil pieces with a saws all using a 12" demolition blade. I cut it up to remove it from the garage as I removed the axle, front struts basically everything. It was a shell on jack stands. It still hurt to cut a GSL-SE up but it was beyond repair. I then was able to pick up the pieces and throw em into my van and take them to the junk yard. I'll have to post a picture of it as seeing a small car in 15 plus pieces was kinda funny. And BTW havnt lost it in yrs unless you count the return incedint at Home Depot...lol. Glad Im not alone.

If you followed this at all he's parting it out and has been for a week or more now.

I'm not goin anywhere

Next project is going to be a 1st gen (81 or 82) base model. I'll build myself a badass 13b with s5 n/a rotors and rock the EFI eventually. Should be fun.

Yah it's a downgrade, but it's emissions exempt. Unfortunately I do not live in an area without emissions like some of you! So instead of having to do an engine swap because my port will NOT pass emissions, plus putting exhaust on for the testing, I'd rather just skip the hassle and get a car that doesn't have to be tested.

At least I'm using the 2nd gen 13b

Most rx2's I see are junk or very close to junk. Didn't want to deal with that crap.

And WHO just bought a 1st gen? You! So shuddup.

Yah I'm getting a 1st gen because they are cheap and I wont care what it looks like at all. Or if it has dents, bad paint, etc. That's my reasoning behind it, but that's besides the point!

People should just let this thread die a peaceful death.
