Unhappy Is my engine blow? (Video inside, please help)

http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u...7090146-00.flv

There's a video.

The car has absolutely no power at all. I just got done packing it to the roof with everything I own to move out west for a job, and when I was getting ready to pull out of the garage I heard a knock then it started running rough as all hell and died.

I really have no idea what to do now, I was up till about 3am taking everything apart that I could, cleaning it and putting it back together in hopes it would help but all in vain apparently...

Is it really normal for them to go pop at only 113k?

Its happened at less than 113k. Your engine could be blown, but do a compression test to check.

I have no way to do a compression test.

I don't really have any money or much in the way of tools. I've just been hoping and praying this car would last.

Did you watch the video?

I just went out and started it again. It just runs rough and seems to miss out. It revs up really slow too. But it runs okay. It doesn't die and can hold an idle. Keep hearing a loud puff out the exhaust about every second or every other second.

I also should note this happened right after I tightened the alternator belt. I got it tightened because it was slipping. And when I started it up and lightly feathered the gas to make sure it wouldn't slip, it made a noise and started running unbelievably bad.

It sounds like it's running on one rotor to me, but definitely check compression to be sure. Since you don't need a compression tester just to see if compression is there, pull the bottom spark plug out, and crank the engine over (I will generally do it both with the starter and then by hand with a 19mm socket on the crank bolt, just to be sure..

You should get 6 even puffs of air out of it, if you hear a "puff, puff, <nothing>, puff, <nothing>, puff" pattern, then you probably lost one apex seal.

Try that, let us know how you make out.

Losing an apex seal would produce no puffs on 2 faces.

3 even puffs on the front rotar, ZERO on the rear.

I did them one at a time because I couldn't tell much trying to do them both at the same time.

Welp, it's probably blown, then (lost at least two apex seals on the rear)... If you're really in a bad way, you can you do what I did to drive my Rx7 home with a blown rear rotor, I pulled the two rear rotor fuel injector connectors and drove it about 70-100 miles home... That's definitely different from a cross country trip on one rotor, though

When it rains, it pours.

unplug the rear injectors, and have at her. once you blow a rotor, it wont do any more damage.

ive heard of people driving the car for years on a blown rotor.

its common for s5 cars to blow early for some odd reason.

True, I knew a kid that put 30K on a engine with a blown rotor. Slow ...but it got him to work and back every day.
