My e-shaft nut fell off

I just put my new engine in, which i had rebulit by a rx-7 shop and after 175km the e-shaft nut fell off while i was driving around ! As anyone heard of this before ? i noticed the nut was tight but probley not tight enough

Yikes! Are you talking about the 19mm bolt in the center of the pulleys on the front? If so, you can almost bet your thrust bearings are torn the shreds by now!

It was the big jesus nut holding on the flywheel. the 54mm one, i wish it was the other one

I never heared of such before. I'd be very unhappy with who rebuilt the engine. And if I had rebuilt the engine.....I'd own up to it and pay restitution.

That nut is supposed to be torqued to three hundred plus ft/lbs and the threads are supposed to have locktite on them prior to the installlation of the nut. Someone failed miserably.

It sucks too cause the place is like 15 hours away i just cant tow it there and make them fix it, do you think there could be internal damage ? i dont think there is much i could do, the engine could fail 5,000km down the road they would just blame me

yeah im going to call them and tell them what happened so it doesent happen again to someone else but i installed the engine myself so i dont think there is any warranty of any type

So my e-shaft had some damaged threads and my pressure plate had a big circle ingraved into it, its all back togeather isnt working right yet..

Thats almost comparible to my failed rebuilt and (poor) streetported Engine after 989kms...this from a rotary shop that owns a 20B FC. Damn It!
