My Dam Car Wont Start!

as the title states i went to go start my car that i have not driven in over 6 months i changed all fluids and installed new battery it will not turn over all i hear is a pretty loud noise comming from what seems to me to be the fuel pump. anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this ? oh by the way i left the car on no fuel but i also filled her up with about 5 gallons. thought id through that in there. thanks again

flooded maybe? Search around for 'de-flooding procedures' and see if that might get it running.

i meant that i parked the car on e so it had no fuel for those few months i replaced the battery with a fresh one just cuz i got a free optima red top so i figured why not. the car has new plugs with wires did an oil change coolant change and put about 5 gallons worth of gas in the tank when i put the key in the ignition it does not crank all you hear is what i believe to be the fuel pump but nothing else . has anyone ever experianced this ?

try turning the key slightly, so only the electric stuff turns on back and fourth so the engine could get some fuel or something?

Arron Cake said this in another thread......If you can't turn the engine by hand then there is a serious problem. It may be jammed due a broken apex seal.

So go try and see if it turns by hand.

Can It be push started?

this has some good info

I would try to turn the engine by hand and see if you can move it. It will take a fair bit of force... might have to put a socket on the bolt in the middle of the front pulley.

Assuming you can turn the engine over by hand, it sounds like you have an electrical issue with your starting and charging harness. How are your battery terminals and wires? If the starter can't see enough voltage it won't crank but you'll get your fuel pump sound. Can you hear your starter cut relay click when you turn the key?

Hard to say what the wire is your talking about without a picture but most of the wires around the starter are pretty important so i'd properly hook it up. Just because it is touching dosn't mean it has a good electrical connection. If having it loosely touching was all it needed mazda wouldn't have bothered putting a nut on there in the first place.

first off how did you try the de-flooding procedure if the engine doesnt even crank?

and second if the wire is loose on the starter and there is supposed to be a nut on there, just put a nut on there.

You said all you can hear is the fuel pump, if you dont hear the starter even clicking its time to get out the multimeter and start checking for voltage at the battery, check for continuity on the fuses, and check for voltage at the starter.

Also you could try turning the ignition to the on position and jumping the starter solenoid with a screwdriver. All you need to do is connect the 2 main posts with the screwdriver, just make sure you dont have any gas leaks because it could spark a little, and make sure you are clear of any moving parts. If this turns the engine and everything is wired correctly then you need a new starter.

^^ i was wondering the same thing! starters shouldn't just go bad after stting there though. put that nut where it needs to be so you have a nice solid electrical connection and try it again. Then test the starter.

well the headlights will come on if the car is turning over or not, not good info... I bet your starter is just fine, the main fuse in your engine bay is blown, like killerT2 said.
