My Cosmo RE project

i bought this car about 2 1/2 years ago. the shell was juck when i got it. didnt care to much cause i worked at an autobody shop anyways. it started out as an n/a build up but then was not making enough power as i wanted. so i decided to go turbo. i was looking for a turbo2 but then found something a whole lot better. my buddy had an RE-W for sale and said he was going to sell it to me and put it in with the stand alone for only $2200.. i thought i was a deal. then i started thinking and did some research. i was new to the rx7 game. so when i got onto this forum i found out that it would not work. so then i backed out of it and tried to find something that will make that much power stock. all i wanted was 300hp. no more no less. then after sitting in my buddies evo MR making 345whp, i thought i should go more extreme. i had the need for boost. so i did more search and found the cosmo re. i bought the set up from one of my good friend... it came with a T2 trans, lsd diff, t2 axles, cosmo re motor, custom motor mounts, wolf 3d stand alone, 1600cc injectors, new drive shaft, hks t4 turbo manifold, and a alot more little misc parts that i sold on here and ebay. so when i got the motor i quickly dropped it in and thought i would be running by one month. i bought the whole setup for $2300... so when i started to go i kept on doing research and found out more things. as a new guy to the rex game, i kept doing my research and kept on finding out new things about this motor. more work and more power that i could make with this motor. i started to look at rebuilding the block and porting it to the max to make over 600hp. i started researching shops the port and build these motors. then i found banzai motorsports. (my motor is being shipped out in march 2009) wait till the cold is gone.. here are the parts i bought so far for this project.

-T04R turbo, 76 trim on turbine, 64 trim on compressor
-3" true dual exhaust
-1600cc injectors (secondary)
-720cc injectors (primary)
-fd flywheel
-stage 3 clutch master clutch(6 puck)
-28x11x3 intercooler
-3" intercooler pipe
-kg parts fuel rail (sec-prim)
-aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
-walbro 255 fuel pump
-megan racing coilover
-17" adr rims
-toyo tires TRI 225-45-17
-t2 hood
-remote auto lambo doors
-s5 rear tail lights

these are the things that are on the way...

-25mm Type F fenders
-GP2 body kit
-syncronic BOV
-stainless steel fuel lines (rear to front)
-boost gauge
-Air Fuel gauge
-oil pressure gauge
-oil temp gauge
-tech gauge
-recardo racing seats
-tanaka 4 point racing harness
-light gram rims (for tracks/shows only)
-msd for leading and tailing coils
-150psi methonal injection
-sending my motor to banzai racing

This has been a 2 year project and hopeing it comes out in 2009. i dont want to rush and blow anything so im not such in a hurry. i rather do it right the first time and get it over with. nothing to worry about and nothing will break down. but knowing a 600whp car, something will go out on it. so im going to start buying extra parts like diff, axles, driveshafts and trannies.. im looking for one in spring so i hope i find one then. but if you guys have any advices on how or what i should do or get to make it better then let me know. or let me know what you guys have for sale with a price. if i have the money then ill buy it if it is a good price. thanks for looking...here is the pics of the project.

Good luck. In my opinion, your definitely shooting too high hoping for 600 hp with that setup. You'll need to drop 200 off that unless you plan on spending a lot more money. I think you'll be surprised how much more money you'll be spending in the first place to get that setup anyways.

good luck . if you need any help pm me, i also run the wolf with an re. you may want to upgrade that v3 wolf with a v4 or v5. you will run into problems with the v3. I also think 600 is too high to aim for. mine is about 410 and is plenty on an fc.

yeh Im hoping for about 430 on the current turbo. If I dont hit that then will go thing bigger (gt42 or bigger) and with water injection

Good luck with the build, its good fun. Im up to just starting the wiring haha

PS. Im way under 14k US. So far and I reckon Ive spend about 8k and about 2 k more to spend to finish it off. (Also that's Aussie dollars as well so about 6K US total)
