You guys have any ideas why. My first track event is Sat and this check engine light thing kinda bothers me. the car runs fantastic though. Maybe I should disconnect the battery and let it fix itself.

You have a 1990, just do this:
Under the hood left side near the battery, there is a single female connector (green). Ground it with a piece of wire. Go inside and turn the key forward to on but don't start (till your idiot lights cut on). The CE light should blink out code. Get back to us with what it is.

if you have an upgraded intake, it makes the check engine light come on when its real cold outside, it flickers all the time on my car when i go more then 50% throttle

Mind does that too every great once in a while when it's either cold or wet outside. Except mine will come on when I cruise for a while, and then when I let off of the throttle it turns back off again. Last time I checked it was the mass air sensor. I just make sure it's plugged in good and keep on driving. It only does it every great once in a while so it isn't much of a concern.

I have a similar problem in sub 50 degree weather. The car is harder to start and idles and runs very
rough for about 15 to 20 minutes after which time it runs fine. The Check Engine light also flashes on
when I rev the engine until it gets warm. I have checked the ECU codes and haven't gotten anything (yet) and have resoldered the idiot light cluster as well to no avail.
I guess based on this info that I'll try checking the ECU codes again.

I took my vert for a drive yesterday and it was a frigid 10°F (0°F with the wind chill). My check engine light never blinked once. If the check engine light is on or blinking, something is wrong. It may not be anything to worry about, but there is something wrong.
I had a similar prob turned out to be the connector on the intake temp sensor was loose and some times did not make 100% connection. Check all your connectors but the easy way is to check the engine code and go from there. Happy hunting.
