My CF Business Update
Tomorrow, me and my friend are going shopping!
1st 4 products (in random order)
S4 & S5 Stereo/Shifter Surrounds
-Same as stock, but molded together. There will be an ash-tray cover, and a screw-in plate (think of a flat-faced stereo install kit) available in the near future.
FTP Vents
-Similar to pictured below
Sunroof skin
-Will have FG bracing in the interior, just in case. HOWEVER; YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS IF YOU REMOVE THE STRUCTURAL BRACING IN THE SUNROOF! (Have to cover my ***, I'm taking mine out)
More products will be made, these are just going to be the 1st. I'll keep everyone updated.

The skin of the sunroof. I'm going to put a LITTLE structural bracing into the part (so it can stand up to a bit of abuse) but not enough to keep it 1 peice if the car flipped, or something really heavy was dropped on it.
After making it, I'm going to cut the heavy-assed metal bracing (or most of it) out of the sunroof. This is probably illegal, and could result in a lawsuit if someone died from that, so I reccomend that you keep the internals of the sunroof the way they are; even though I am not.

that is a really bad idea. i wouldnt venture into something like that myself but if you are willing to take the risk, go ahead. if anyone rolls their car without any bracing in the sunroof its gonna pop down into their heads. and lets hope they dont roll on rocks.

Hey! This is just me doing it! I say keep the bracing! I'm just stupid, and won't be suing myself.
Depending on how I feel at the time, I might have some new bracing welded up in a lighter material.
Guess I'm going to have to send warnings to people along with the sunroofs to keep the bracing. Installation instructions while I'm at it.

ok, removing bracing from hood.... ok removing ac, PS, airpump....ok
the one thing you dont want to remove in a car is the protective reinforcement around the cockpit. they dont sell rollcages just for looks. please do me a favor and dont do this. it is dangerous and is right on that thin line between dumbass and dead.

And I WALK THAT LINE!
Justin, if it were that important, then how could the car be legal with a sunroof? It will have the same safety ability as it would if you flipped the car with the sunroof open. It's not like I'm cutting the cabin off.

are you gonna actually send product once we pay? I have had almost complete bad luck with people on this forum. Right now I am waiting on some carbon fiber pieces from a person I wont mention. Its been 7 weeks now........still waiting.......
Also, does anyone know how to get money back through paypal. Or am I out that $155 I sent this guy. I dont think he is gonna make my stereo/shifter surround or my rearview mirror adjustment plate.

Yes, you will get product. You don't send me $$ until it is DONE! I'll even take a picture of the item sitting on the day's newspaper for an extra $1.25!

DVST8; no, not really. I'm not actually doing the carbon fiber work. I'm doing the business end, and slowly learing as I go along. Your best bet (and how I know to do a lot of things with fiberglass) is to check out car audio sites, on how to build fiberglass sub boxes, and go from there.

http://www.fibreglast.com <-- wealth of info, books, videos, how-tos, materials, etc.
There are quite a few others -- just search the net for fiberglass and the likes. Especially how-tos and DIY.

They are right be absolutely totally honest with people. I have learned this lesson. I yes I am the guy FC3AZ is refering to, I hadent noticed his PM's recently as I have been too busy to really check them. But I received his $ and ran out of CF before I made his pieces, and as I can only get it in big rolls and am so broke since moving my shop I havent gotten him his fully paid for parts yet. To set the records straight I have taken WAY too long to get him his parts, will in the very near future(#1 priority with my upcoming time) and intend to make it worth the wait by giving him some free parts of his choice. It sucks because when I accepted his payment I intended to get him his CF stereo surround in a timely fashion and of good quality, then he would post his experiences with me and the product here and I would sell many more surrounds, and make $ and all would be happy. Well due to my recent problems HE got the short end, and as I told him I DO feel very bad about it and WILL make it up to him and well worth the wait. The lesson I very well learned is in order to effectively run a succesfull part supplying service is to not offer anything or accept payment untill the product is complete and ready to ship. If I woul have gotten him his surround in a week or so, and he was(he will be) happy with the product, since that day it prolly would have set me up with many many more sales of the same product.
On a sidenote CF fabrication is quite similar to FG fab. BUT(this is just a couple differences) unless you plan on painting the parts you cannot use"patches of fabric around bends with CF as you can FG. You can sand and add material to flaws. The mold for CF part must be perfect for a good part. Learning from mistkaes is far more costly than learning FG. Creating succesfull compound curves is WAY WAY harder with CF than FG. In my opinion making clean useable curvy parts is THE hardest thing about making CF parts. Though its not as exotic, expensive, and impossible to make ,as opposed to buy, than people think. One of a kind CF parts that will not ever be seen like that again on a car( full 15lbs.Carbon dash in an FC) are the ****!!!
But a book, some resin, and a yard(apprx 45$) of CF and do some experimenting, you will prolly be glad you did, or atleast proud that you tried!

ok smart guy, learn to read.
i was reffering to the fact that a sunroof becomes a large projectile if forced into the cabin during a rollover. why do you think there is a large lip around the edge which prevents it from coming in. he can do whatever he wants, and chances are that nothing will ever happen. some people need people to be their mommies, like i know some people that wish someone had told them not to put jb weld in their intakes
