Is my car runnoing hot?

I read in here somewhere more than once that the temp guage should not go more than a quarter of the way up... Is this true...? I read that you are only supposed to buy that Factory Mazda thermostat because the others dont seat right and that is why the temp will go half way up... Mine has gone half way up since I bought it and I thought nothing of it till I came here and read that is bad... I bought the Mazda thermostat... It still does go half way up... I am now reading that you are supposed to bleed the cooling system... I guess my questions are as follows...

1. Is the temp guage really not supposed to go beyond a quarter of the way up?
2. If this is true and I bought the factory thermostat and it is still doing it, wouldnt my next step be to bleed the system (even though I have no buzzers going off)...?
3. How exactly is this done on an 89 n/a? I have searched and all of the threads say to do it but do not say how... I have also checked the online FSM... If there was anything I did not see it... I checked chapter 3...

I appreciate any and all help... I just dont want to kill my 7...

S5 gauges are as everyone likes to say, worthless. The temp gauge basically reads off, 1/2 way or too late. Yes you should only use Mazda thermostats.

Okay... Does this mean it should read less than half way and half way is too late, or half way is okay but a hair over is too late?

S5 only reads 3 places...

Off = Cold
1/2 = Normal temperature
H = You need a new engine

that's what Turbo II meant by it.

Cool... I was worried there for a minute... I could have sworn that I read in here that it was only supposed to go 1/4 of the way up... I appreciate the feedback y'all...

I think for S4 cars its a 1/4 of the way and S5 is halfway, but then again every car is different.

I got an aftermarket gauge so I know.
