my car is put down

I have a 86 NA FC, i knew i had an exhaust leak and my car been sounding like a airplane for like two weeks i was waiting for my paycheck to buy my new exhaust. Well I was driving to work and in the parking lot my car does a huge backfire and the E-brake covering pops up and then my stick wont move anymore it, I was pulling it from 5th to neutral and it got stuck in the middle. Now i cant get it into gear and it feels like stick doesnt pivot but when i move it the whole transmission moves with it. The car starts up and everythinig but it doesnt go anywhere cause i cant get it into gear. Any suggustions to whats wrong? i dont know what to do and im going to laid off from my job until i get it fixed.

Maybe your throwout bearing broke.
Do you get good pressure on the clutch pedal?
Could also be the hydraulics.

My clutch feels the same, i replaced my clutch, pressure plate throwout bearing, master and slave like 3 months ago. When my car was down when they blew out i still can put it into gear with the car off now it wont go in gear and just moves around stiffly, and when my car backfired the two pipes wasnt connected no more they was off. I think like they hit my tranny and maybe shocked it? or something

What 2 pipes arent connected? The exhaust blew completely apart?
Does there seem to be any damage to the transmission?
Have you been hearing any noise from the clutch or tranny before it broke?

well earlier before it broke, when i was in like first gear going slow like from 1500-2500 RPM the car was like shaking and i notice the shifter keeps boucning up and down like violently. I also did a curb check casue i wasnt looking so i figured i messed up my tire, but when i checked it it was fine. and also the exhaust pipes, i dont know that much but i know its right under the passenger seat.
