My car is nearly perfect! Anyone else? :D
Well, after 2 years toil, sweat, and fun, my car is nearly perfect.
The suspension rides stiff and firm like new. Cornering is a breeze and the tires have 90% tread . There are no abnormal noises or dry bearings and the power steering is fully operational w/no stress.
I rebuilt the engine last year and compression is still prestine w/performance mods netting ~170-180 RWHP. The idles is rock steady at 750 and the intake/exhaust is leak free. Cooling system is all up to spec and so is lubrication system. Fan is good, no check engine lights anymore, the engine is in great condition.
Braking is superb w/all new brake pads and rotors shining like BLING BLING. All lines are clean and fresh DOT3 was just bled.
Pulsation damper failed a month ago and I was DAMN LUCKY my car didn't burn to the ground. That's fixed and fuel lines are good again. Pump is good and I'm averaging 19mpg city/highway combined now.
Transmission is crisp and smooth w/a rip free boot and shining stock black shift ****. The syncros do grind from time to time but what can I expect w/a 12 year old car. Clutch was also replaced last year so it grips very well.
ALL electronics and "things" are working perfectly. There are no shorts, opens, or burnt out components. A/C blows ice cold air and heat burns. Sunroof, pwr doors and windows all work. Nothing "jimmy rigged" anymore . No speakers are blown and stereo plays CD's fine w/o skippage.
Body is dent free and paint is waxed monthly for a lusterous shine. There are nicks here and there w/some touch up paint, but that's expected. No rust either. Spoiler is in fine and pwr antenna goes up/down everytime w/ease. All glass/mirrors are perfect.
Interior is good. The carpet has some stains, but nothing a little industrial-strength cleaner can't remedy. All leather/vynil is rip free and plastic is anti-cracked w/Two exceptions - the idiot light cluster plastic plate and the driver seat has a small rip on the left thigh area (on the side where it's vynil and not cloth). I JUST got a new center console today as the old one was badly torn... now it's nice and "new" again. The hatch cargo cover was bending in the middle, but I fixed it w/some metal bars so it's good now.
Once last thing left, the pass. FTP lens fell out some time ago. I acquired one tday and the local RX-7 shop for $10 and will put it in tomorrow. THEN, my car will be as near perfect as I can make it on a poor college student salary . Hehe.. this is so awesome, after 2 years I finally got it back to almost how it was supposed to be back in 1990, but with a bit more power .
Oh yeah, and I wanted to say THANKS to all who have helped me through all my tech problems and the best of luck to everyone and their FC's.
hehe.. I know i'll be posting some problem here in a week or so lol.. that's just my luck

Hhmmm, I guess I can say that "this makes two of us"
My car is *almost* perfect, but it still has some minor things that need to be taken care of:
- damn wiper switch
- oil cooler lines leak a drop or two every now and then
- need new rear brake rotors
- sunroof sticks a bit at the very start of opening (needs a little push)
- need of course FD pump, secondaries and S-AFC
- a couple very small scratches on the paint
Everything else is perfect. Engine, outside, inside, leather, everything works
Sure hope I can keep it that way

Of course the engine is still alive, but when it burns so much oil that after 5 minutes of running you can't see the car anymore, then you have a problem

Mine is "almost" perfect.
Mine has a nearly perfect driveline. My NA is only missing its Turbo and it would be perfect.
All my electrical works great, I finally fixed all of them myself.
The only thing left for me to fix: AC system went down during storage this past winter. The compressor looks to be leaking at the front oil seal.
Solution: Take good compressor from my recently acquired parts car and swap in the spring.

I think my car is perfect. The only things wrong are the damn wiper switch and a couple of scratches (no dents). Of course, it's only got 30,000 miles on it and I'm the second owner so I'm hoping that nothing major goes wrong for quite some time.

Now that I've posted in this thread, I'm motivated even more to go fix that damn wiper switch...
As for the paint, Rex is due for a paint job as soon as my paint-shop opens up again after the 25th of August (not *mine*, just the shop I use all the time )
Engine tuning will also happen at the same time more-or-less....
So that leaves me with the oil cooler lines, the rear brake rotors, and the sunroof twitch....

Mine was perfect, till I forgot my hood pins and the roof flew up. Then the whole header fiasco had to be fixed. Then, I popped the engine. A year ago, she was one sexy beast. Now, well, she is still a sexy beast, but I can't wait to get another one and start over

Yeah I got a bunch of pics floating around on this website (just search for by my username and "pics" or "photos" or "my rx-7"). But those are like 1 year old after just getting the new engine and clutch. I'll take some new ones this weekend at the auto-x .

A tip for that sticking sunroof...
You must replace the belt AND....
the felt coverd seal around the roof panel.
you see, this used to be a "FURRY" seal. (ORK-ORK)
Now that the furr has rubbed off, the belt would strain to pull the sunroof open. this wore the belt.
now you must help it to open.
Replace both the seal tand the belt, and then replace only the seal every few years when it rubs down.
the belt will last 10 times longer.
If you remove the seal from the sunroof and it opens owth no problem, then this is the case.
if it still has issues, then clean the rails.
but remember, they were never meant to be OILED.
this attracts dirt, and the dirt will grind the roof rails up.
there are teflon glides attached to the mech that might be dead now. replacing those also requires the headliner come doen and the sunroof come out of the car.
I just LOVE these suroofs.
