took the fc around the block for a quick sprint for the hell of it. after it warmed up i made a loop around the block and it started making a horrible clanking noise after i got on it a bit. doesnt seem like the engine is hurt. its not making less power or having a hard time idling or revving, just an obnoxiously loud tinny(tin like metal not tinny like tiny) rattle. sounds like a loose heat shield but i have no heat sheilds; maybe the clutch?

watch and listen to this horrible sound quality vid and give me your input

thanks

open the hood, and check where the noise is coming from. will give us a better idea of things.

i was trying to muffle the noise so it didnt distort my speaker. im going to get a better camera to make a better vid. i poked all over in the engine bay from up top. nothing seemed visually strange. it sounds internal but near the rear. its too loud to really pinpoint and i was honestly just looking for that one expert guy to speak up and say 'oh i had this issue in 1995; turned out to be a ___ and was an easy fix.'

im really worried about bearings or apex seal chatter. i changed the oil and added an extra shot of 2stroke. nothing strange was in the old oil like babbet or bearing material.

Hard to say from the video. I'd do the prybar on the front pulley to see if the thrust washer gave out. (not likely, but an EASY and quick elimination) Grab the exhaust and give her a shake. Take off the inspection covers from the transmission and see if there are chunks or metal pieces anywhere. If none of that turns anything up, then compression check. If good, pull the transmission and see if it's maybe the input shaft bearing or something clutch related possibly that you couldn't see in the inspection covers.
