My car hates me... Maybe it can hate you next?
I'm not sure where this thread goes (probably doesn't even belong on the forum at all) but my car has been dead for 3 weeks now and I'm about to give up. The last thing wrong with it is that the water pump housing refuses to seal up and I'm tired of messing with it. So here's the jist of of this thread:
-I'm looking for advice on how to make a seal that will actually work. Do you use a little RTV, a lot of it, a gasket or not because I've tried combos of all those and I think I just suck at it.
OR (preferably)
-Offers on how much <edited for content- sales adds belong in the for sale section>

Yup. Those are still on there. I tried to see where it was leaking from with a mirror and a light and all I can really tell is that it's from the back on either the very bottom or on the passenger side. The thermo seal and the front pump seal are fine.

hmmm... The 'inner membrane' of your water-pump might be messed up...
I dunno man, there's not much to creating a good seal... I've used RTV gasket sealant and conventional gaskets on my water-pump(s) and both'll work fine. Obviously the RTV's a little messy. I wouldn't suggest using them both at the same time though. There's really no need. Plus, if you ever want to pull it apart (after sealing it), you'll probably ruin your 'real' gasket.
If I were you, I'd find someone parting out a s4 TII and make an offer on a working water-pump. You could probably find one for $25 or so.

I don't really know what the thermo seal, or front pump seal are, but that might be the same thing that I'm referring to.
I dunno, I'd just try another water-pump. There's a little 'bleed' hole on the underside of the water-pump, I was told that if it's leaking from there (mine was) that the "inner membrane" was destroyed on the water-pump.
Good luck,
