is my car governed?

i was trying to do a top speed run today, and the speedometer didnt seem to want to go past 120. i shifted to 5th gear and at that speed it didnt seem like the car wanted to move any faster, like it was giving up. is there something i can remove to stop this? or is my car just stuck with it and never going to go any faster.

Congrats, you've just found your top speed. Until you get more power, that's all she's got.

You have an NA right? You're not getting near 150mph without another 100-110hp. Don't make silly claims you can't back up.

Of course if you must go faster - go downhill & downwind. Or tailgate a 150MPH Semi.

A stock Series 5 Turbo tops out at 135mph. Time to get your speedo recalibrated...

i hate that damn 120mph stopping point, mine stops around 122 or so, BUT if you find a nice long downhill on the freeway, oh man...my highest is 140mph, thanks to a downhill, it wold have kept going but when i looked down, and almost shitted myself, i thought it wise to back off. you know, this sucks consiering that i was in my friends 93 prelude when it was bone stock and it grinded out to top gear redline at 140mph, and it kept going past redline, waah, i want more power, but at least my friends GST is governed and he cant pass me on the free way, that makes me feel a little bit better.

Actually if you are above the 4k mark NAs do accell in 5th. I had my old '87 base model up to 137mph before. Currently I've had my '87 sport to 130mph. NAs aren't as slow as some claim they are.

So you either had 200hp, an inaccurate speedo or you were running downhill.

Guys, it's very easy to accurately calculate top speed from power and vice versa if you know the top speed and power of the stock car. So if you're gonna claim top speeds, back it up with some facts...

Actually I was on a completely flat freeway. My car only had a RP 50mm cat back at the time. I can't explain it either, but I do know that it happened. It's very possible that my car's speedo was out of wack, but I doubt that my new RX-7 has the exact same problem. Unless it is a common problem among second gens. By the way, who would lie about a top speed? I know my car is slow and I don't have a problem admitting it.

listed car top speed runs are recorded in a one or 2 mile strech. given an long empty road. I'm sure all cars can beat there listed top speed.

I've hit 120MPH fairly easily, and it was still pulling (not alot, but pulling) Im sure I couldve hit around 140 given another 15 seconds or so. Of course that is what the speedo said, so I assume I was actually going 5-15mph slower than that. (All speedometers are off at high speeds)
