my car is falling apart =( *pics
id like to thank everyone in advance for your help.
first of all, i was driving today and i heard a dragging sound so i pulled over and found a black canister of some sort. it was leaking and seemed to be leaking water.
i have no idea what this is and i would greatly appreciate it if someone would tell me where it bolts up to and what it does =)
the other problem i have is this:
can somebody tell me what im supposed to connect that to? im going to go buy hoses tommorow. it also seems to be sucking in air. =\
im sorry for the huge pictures. ill try and learn how to make them smaller.
once again, thanks for your help!

first picture: as was stated, it IS the air bypass / smog silencer / muffler
second picture is the air pump. it supplies air to te catalytic converter so your cat burns hotter and cleans the exhaust gasses. goes in there throught the ACV (air control valve) and to you cat. just buy a little transmission case breather filter for it so you suck in any bugs, sand, or rocks. you'll need it for emmisions testing. there is a trick to getting it to run 100% for you emmisions (not sure what it is, something about taking off a vac line from the acv i think) so you exhaust is cleaner... probably due to the fresh air coming out the exhaust pipes ^_^

not my car. just a pic to help see the breather.

Hold on man,
If you still have a cataletic converter you need to hook the air pump back up, & make sure the split air pipe is hooked to your cat, other wise it will melt & clog up.
Next, if you're keeping the airpump, you'll want to keep that muffler too, otherwise the pump will make an f-ed up noise,.. or so i've heard.

It's probably just built up moisture from either dragging or condensation.
If you have gutted cats, you can pull the airpump. If you keep the airpump I recommend keeping the air silencer because without it the pump can make all kinds of strange honking sounds.
Also, get a filter on the airpump inlet if you continue to use it. Sometimes the ACV directs air pump air to the rear rotor so you don't want to be sucking in any dirt.
