i have a 87 auto with 72,000 miles...the car shifts fine when you drive normal.but when you give the car about half pedal to were the car goes to 3,500 it just dies, but if you hold the gas pedal a little soft as you come up to 3,500 it dosent die or fall on its face i say...but as soon as you give it a liite more pedal it boges down.this is what i have replaced...

sounds like your air flow meter isn't reading right and your car might be going into limp mode.
Make sure its at the right angle!
(sorry I can't help more, I don't know much about the old air flow meters)

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Yeah, you've got one of the 2ndary injector plugs loose or making a poor connection, or a wiring problem elsewhere. THis is exactly what happens when you run with no 2ndary injectors...extreme loss of powre at 3600rpm at 1/4 throttle or more.
