My car build progress pics

I am doing a complete rebuild and wanted to share a few pics that I took yesterday. The car has a ways to go as everything is being completely redone but these will give an idea of what I have been up to My goal is to have the car finished for SS6... and I will meet this goal! The entire car is being painted and will have a RE body kit. I already have Amemiya exhaust, mirrors and spoiler, just waiting on the front end and side skirts, as well as the custom CF hood

These pics are kinda dark and full of shadows (I'm not a photographer) but you can get an idea. I'm not putting anything back on the car that isn't new or been polished/plated/painted. This includes all nuts/bolts/brakets in the engine bay that are being re-plated.

I will be trying to update this on weekly basis over the next few weeks as I finish everything. Note that *everything* has been done by myself, all painting, polishing etc.

Enjoy:

My Innocent Blue Mica rear Suspension

Front suspension with Suspension techniques swaybar, RB endlinks, IBM paint, poly bushings:

with JIC shock which is currently FS:

Not so great picture of the engine in the freshly painted bay. You can see that the front cover is polished as are teh housings. The plates are IBM as is the brake booster. If you look really close, you can tell that the proportioning valve is polished.

A few of the other parts that have been polished or painted IBM (you can really see the paint on the brake booster):

A few of my new interior goodies: BRIDE Pros black leather seats, Momo steering wheel and shifter (not to worry, the passenger gets a BRIDE too, just isn't pictured):

And a bit of a sneak peak on what is to come of my own custom turbo kit (twin 38mm gates):

That's it for now, more as I progress. I hope to have the engine bay fairly complete by the end of the weekend... we'll see.

Thanks for the compliments.

I'm using PPG Global paints. I used their top-0-the-line BC and CC but used the Omni primer... since it isn't that much difference. I bought a Sharpe Plat gun to put it on, and damn does that thing spray better than the Harbor freight one I was using previously!!

J, nope, didn't get the other suspension yet. My JIC's are FS and really they have been bolted one, but they aren't even torqued down, just hand tight to see what they look like. Hopefully someone will want the FLT's.

IBM is totally awesome. Actually, my neighbors here that have been watching the build told me to paint the whole car IBM when they saw the few small parts. I wanted to retain *something* of the car that was origional, and really the only option was to keep Crystal White.

Do for a living? I'm an ME for Raytheon, but the truth is that it's my wife's salary that's letting me build the car. Mine covers the bills and hers is play money, which happend to be my car at this moment.

Nice, now i REALLY regret not painting my car. I polished the front cover & it was really nice, but you can't really see alot of it, with the water pump and pulleys in the way. I also have the A/C so, it's not readily seen. Plus cleaning it, is a pain. I use mothers and to get all the noock and crannies isn't so much fun.

Not much progress last night. I"m actually plating all my own stuff with a "chemistry set" from Caswell plating. I was having some probs which I finally got sorted last night. All the brackes and screws should be a nice matt black. I really like the way it looks.

The engine was actually build several years ago and has ~30k miles on it. It was build with new 89 housings 93 rotors machined for 3mm seals. Heavy street port that actually has a slight 'bump' at idle... though not nearly as mean as a bridgeport. Then the usual upgrades: 93 corner seals, oil passage mods, higher pressure oil regulator, 3 window bearings etc. It has a RB deep sump oil pan. I'm running an Al flywheel with Pineapple Racing's new 6puck disk and an ACT Extreme PP.

Engine management is an E6k, 720 Primary, 1600 secondary with all braided stainless line and a Aeromotive FPR and filter and the RP fuel pump... which I *hope* will suffice... though it may not, we'll see.

The polishing is *very* tedious, though much easier with a real bench polisher in place of the drill I previously used. It is a bummer that the front cover gets concealed Ah well, that's why I'm polishing everything else too

I did get a clear coat specifically made for polished metal so hopefully I won't have to worry about oxidation for these parts.

More to come....
