Angry my car also sucks !!!!

i woke up friday morning very excited ..... i went to sleep friday night rather dissappointed only to be even more pissed off on saturday morning . let me give you a recap of my experience :
as soon as i woke up friday morning i got to work on my car to prepare it for the final night of test and tune at e-town nj . i replaced the plugs and wires with some ngk's and magnecore 10 mm's , change the oil and filter since it was due , flush my cooling system , added coolant 60/40 and added half a bottle of redline water watter ....aside from the flactuating idle my car was running pretty good ..im thinking its the acv gasket b/c when i put the avc back on i reused the old butchered gasket and the new one didnt get in til late friday afternoon . i didnt have time to replace it so i decided to go to the track anyway . im not expecting great times but what i am expecting is atleast low to mid 16's due to a bad clutch that has no bite but doesnt slip , close to bald avs tires , and an intake leak . on my first run i took off at about 3200 rpm ....my cars *** just dropped and sat there spinning the tires almost as if it were doing a stand still then it took off ....i ran a 16.9 @ 82 MPH ...it was understandable . so on my next run i decided to dump at 2500 rpm ..the same thing happened but not as bad ...much tire spin then when it hooked up it fell flat on its face ...ran a 17.6 once again i was understanding ..before my third run the car doesnt want to start and it floods ...i pull the fuse get it running and i go to run ....dumped at 3k, once again all the car did off the line was spin the tires ran a 17.3 at almost 81 MPH , all of my 60' times were 2.6's , 2.7's and a 2.9 . wich i think is horrible . also everytime i went from 1st gear to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd instead of the clutch grabbing right away with some bite it would go into gear and it wouldnt grab until the rpm dropped about 2k rpm . i dont know why the hell its doin that ..my car is the only car that i know of that does that ..i figured if a clutch is no good it slips ...my clutch doesnt slip but it doesnt grab either ..its kinda like the car is bogging down and then it starts goin ...im thinkin the pressure plate doesnt have the juice to harnass the power ..lol what power..lol ..but it is a cheap oem replacement ..do you think an act street/strip clutch will cure this ailment and have any of you ever heard of a clutch doing this ?ok so thats my track experience ..on my way home my at the gas station the car flooded again when i went to start it ....then i got to my girls house ..went to go around the corner and it flooded again ..then saturday morning flooded again but this time it took my some jumper cables and a lot of time to get it started ....i got it home and i havent touched it since ..i dont want to get pissed off . i really wish i knew what the hell is goin on with my car ..i doubt that its low compression ....if it was i dont think my car would pull nearly as hard as it does from 4-8k rpm , the battery terminals seem to have a good connection ..they are on there pretty tight , my alternator seems to be good also , im gettin about 14 v once its started ....my car has never given my this many starting problems in a 24 hour period ..i would get an occasionally flood hear and there (maybe 5-7 times in the past 2 years) and it was always a brick day and a few times the battery terminals were very loose . right now im going through a withdrawal stage ..i dont want to drive my car ,look at it ...hell i dont even want it anymore . ever since i had it i've had little probs here and there wich is normal for used cars especially used cars that are over 10 years old ...i've always delt with it but this time im just disgusted . i dont think its leaky injectors either ..i would think that happens gradually ..this went from starting one minute and then 20 minutes later giving me problems . thanx to anyone that reads are responds to this ....hell and if you dont thats cool too ..i just wanted to vent a little and the forum provides that .

OK you have to launch at 3k or your NA (Im guessing from your times and mods its an NA) or it will fall flat on its face.

Also if your tires are blad or at least shot then thats most likely why you were spinning the hell out of them. I just got a new pair of Kuhmo 712's out back they hook great.

From your final speeds I dont think your car has any real problems cause 81/82 mph is pretty good at the end of the 1/4 for a mildly modded NA. My bests are in my sig but it was a beautiful run I havent been able to duplicate again (also my car was stripped).

Was your clutch a PartsMaster clutch from a parts store?

I don't know what company actually makes the Parts Master clutches, but I've seen about half a dozen cars do the same thing with slipping the clutch with a brand new Parts Master clutch. They weren't nearly as powerful cars as yours either. Old Civics, Corollas, etc.

I feel really bad about your problems. I've been having similar ones lately, and I'm disgusted with my car too. I just can't sell it though since I have more money in it than it's worth.

Rancid7,

Sounds like you do most of the work yourself, but you might want to have a pro-rotary mechanic take a look at it the minor mechanical stuff you mentioned.

I had that random hesitation problem that made me feel the same way, but once Mazcare fixed it it improved my mood 9999%.

oohhh - the intake leak will definitly make the car run rich and could be causing your flooding. the ecu sends more fuel cause it sees more air (or vice versa).

dumping the clutch is not the way to go. You need to high-rpm slip it to get the good off the line speed. dumping will just cause excessive tire spin. sometime's I goof up slipping and the clutch, hit the rev limiter, and the clutch goes limp until the engine rpms slow down

Have you wired in a fuel cut switch to bypass the flooding problem? My 91 does that all the time as well but the "press the pedal" fuel cut is wired it. Eventually I do want to replace or blueprint the injectors to resolve it permanently.

Have a rotary professional take a look at it IF you have that luxury.

I wish I did... Living in the middle of nowhere really sucks! Oh well. At least I'm becoming a rotary pro.

all i know is that the clutch i have was bought at a joe shmo parts store for 200 bucks. bottom line is that it sux and its time for an ACT strip/strip nuff said. hopefully i'll get the intake leak fixed today since the gasket just came in . i planned on taking it to jr's rotary in clifton or passaic ..the guy vosko talks about , but since the economy is f'd up and my job is cutting hours money is becoming tight . if neither me or my uncle can fix the problem then i'll have no choice to get it checked out by a pro . i've had the car for over 2 years now and have worked out all the bugs without proffesional help . i havent wired a fuel cut switch b/c i have never needed it and i still dont . i rarely flood the engine and when i do i just pull the egi fuse . now about tires .... i was thinking about the kumho 711's or 712's i forget exactly wich ones i liked , but i should spend the extra money and get the nitto's . i'll see when the time comes how my financial situation is . vaugnc thanx for the launching advice im sure it will be very helpful . on my way home i was wondering why i didnt slip the clutch or take off lightly to see if there'd be any improvement . i guess i just wasnt thinking . i had my friend record one of my runs with a camcorder and its pretty funny . the car barely jumps off the line , the *** drops , the tires just spin , and the car is in a near stand still with slight foward motion . oh yeah it was ugly . thanx for the info and advice .....later
