My baby won't accelerate!!!

Whats up fellow RX7ners,
I've owned my 88 se with gxl motor rx7 for 4 years now and I've been running into problem after problem, most I've been able to handle, but this one boggles the mind. The car starts and idles fine. After the warm up period. I can drive it. But if I let it idle for a while. I lose acceleration completley. whether I hit the pedal or push the throttle by hand it sputters like theres not enough gas there (gauge reads 1/4 tank)or something is clogged. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before or if you guys have any suggestions. Thanks

What mods do you have?

Catlytic converters fail after some time. Clogging the system.

I recently replaced the whole exhaust, with a 2.5" custom built one "high flow" cat resonator mufflers only about 3,000 miles ago and haven't driven it much since then, other than that the car is stock, oh might I forget the cheap air filter adaptor and cone filter.
