Why?

Holy crap dude, just replace your alternator!

But, it might last an hour +... I dunno man, it really depends.

WTF? haha,

You're really thinking about driving an Rx7 that's sat for SIX years!?!

I dunno man, that's going to be a challenge to say the least. Make sure the engine still turns before you try to start it. Yeah, and siphon out all that gnarly gas. Inject some ATF oil into the spark-plug holes and try to spin the motor by hand.

Wow.

no its sat at my uncles garage, for six years and he ran every few months. it has a rebuilt motor and some other stuff. it runs great i just got stuck at my friends house after finally picking it up at my uncles. i runs like new just the new tires have flat spots and the car wobles when i drove it, the car revs straight throw.

your not going to get very far with a bad alt. Mine went out, lasted maybe 20min. or so. I used one of those battery jumper boxes that was fully charged, and some bungee cords to get myself home. It was a real bitch, I had to go super slow, and make sure my hood didnt fly up.

put some air in the tires, get together the $160 for a new alt. and put it on there, get that nasty *** old gas out of there, change the fluids, and do a full 60k tune up when you finally get it to your home.

why try to drive it and damage it more, thus costing yourself in the long run?

how can you tell if your alternator is about to go out when your driving it? cause my alternator went out on me in the mid of the street, and i had to push that **** to the curb, and it was a bitch in front of traffic, had to tow it home. Just wanna know how i would know before so it won't happen again.

Helpful hint...Hit your alternator with hammer. This is only a temporary fix...as it gets the alternator unsiezed.

turboboy, if your battery is low, and after driving it for 20-30 minutes its still low and not charging properly your alternator is probably bad, or you have high resistance somewhere in the alternator wiring. Also hitting your alternator with a hammer sounds like a bad idea. If the bearings seize smashing it probably will not help.

turboboi- It just went out in the N/A, I noticed that it took a little longer to start it, and then, it was hesitant to start. The TII had an apexi turbo timer which displayed voltage, so that kind of gave it away there...

if you have a fully charged battery you could probably drive for an hr max during day time,

remember tho more things you use the faster power drains!
so if your gonna try this do it during the day and dont use any accecorys, no heater, head lights wipers, ect

i drove my na car for over half an hr with, no alt belt and it cranked up fine after wards.... so battery still had prolly half charge in it.
