My 7 Lives again....New Rebuild

Thaks, for all the help guys.......really appreciate it.

I drove my car home tonight....this is my first rotary rebuild.
Compression is good, idle sux, but i think thats to be expected.
I am keeping it under 3k while driving right now. Only leak I have found is a pinhole leak in the lower part of the radiator. Will fix that in the morning.

If you guys can give me a little info on when to start trying to set the idle properly that would be great. I currently have it starting up around 2k and as it warms up it drops to about 1500.
Not sure how long to keep it here.

Will post pics later this weekend......

I have no idea man on your idle problem...the only thing I had an issue with on my first rebuilt engine was a little check valve on the back side of the stock TB that was reveresed. The green/white one. That was on my bone stock TII.

But congrats on the engine running!

What are your compression numbers?

Yeah that's how rebuilds work...
i generally just tune the idle down on mine whenever it gets high...
Actually, one time i went a little overboard and i got it to like 600... but then it wasn't too long (and it was somewhat of a pain because it died occasionally) before it was back up around 1000

my compression guage is fubar.....but my Oil pressure guage is sitting between 50 and 60 and drops after its warmed up between 45 and 50. All I can say is the car has never sounded better or had as much torque. I have yet to get it above 3k RPMS, but after driving it for the past 6yrs I can really tell a difference already.

I installed a header yesterday before I drove it home, sounds good, doesnt sound like a weed eater on steroids. Has a nice deep tone. Header to gutted cat to (Y) pipe to Aerospeed strait thru mufflers.

As of tonight I have put 500 miles on it . Had a buddy follow me to New Orleans and back.
I may make a trip to memphis in the morning to add another 500 to it.....

Next on the list is to gut the entire car, engine and all....to get it painted. ..I was gonna do it while I had the engine out but had to watch my funds. Christmas bonus is not far off and I will use it for paint, rims, springs and struts. after that it should be all good.
