My 6th port snapped
My 6th port snapped
I was going to use the electronic way to open my 5/6th ports but when i was taking things apart the whole lever part of the valve was broken off, this means i have to remove the intake correct?, i have no air pump so i was wondering how much vacum line mess i could remove like the avc? (whatevers in the middle of the ports). I also bought the ford lumbar pump to get the acuators to work along with nice red vaccum line. This sucks, time for a turbo swap even though i only have 20k on my rebuild.
damn dude. I feel your pain, I just finished (like yesterday) doing the LIM swap on my car for the exact same reason: broken aux rod.
first things first thouh, if you're planning a turbo swap then why are you bothering with the aux ports? they are too much of a PITA if you're are going to ditch the engine soon.
if you are going to go ahead and fix the 6 Port Induction system (6PI), then yes you will be removing the throttle body, exten manifold (sometimes called upper intake), and lower intake manifold. if your airpump is gone then you can remove a lot of other crap without adverse effects... check in the 2nd Gen Archives and look for a post by Dale Clark called "how to remove emissions" or something like that. it's very helpful.
At the least, with no airpump you can remove the ACV and block it off, then do the electric activation like you were talking about.

You decide your option is to do a turbo swap because you have to remove the LIM and replace the sleeve actuation rod? wtf that's a day's worth of work tops given you have the part.
The actuator rod will pull out of the LIM.
Check the FSM for how to remove the retainer.
If it's stuck, try penetrating oil like PB Blaster.
Be patient. It may take some wiggling for the penatrant to overcome the carbon deposits on the inside.
Then you can repair or replace the rod.

i wouldn't be able to grabe the rod with anything, its broken clean off, my dillema was that the engine has a streetport and polish with 20k on it...maybee if i blow it this year with the nitrous ill do a turbo swap over the winter

YES YOU CAN REMOVE IT! It's called punching it through the manifold with a screw driver. even if the manifold is fucked a new LIM for an N/a is around 35-45 dollars. that is WAY cheaper than a turbo swap. Stop being such a slappy ****.
