My 2nd gen REW projects

This is a start of a thread documenting my two rx7 rew swaps. The first I am running a rew, power fc on a s5 Tii and the second I am running a REW, Rtek, on a S4 Tii. I posting pics and hopefully soon I will be getting them both fired up and out of the dust collecting shop hell. Hope You guys enjoy. The S5 is getting a T66, Rew street port with all new atkins internals, just got the synapse wastegate, tial 50mm bov, 1600 secondary, 850cc primary, and Power fc. The other is going to run rtek and an rew with a street port with all new atkins internals, 850 primary and secondary, s5 stage two turbo setup, and other good cheap bolt ons. I hope to fire them up soon. My s5 has been waiting for over a year and a half for its motor and has become a dust magnet in the past year. Well here is pics enjoy I will keep everything up dated.

the REW with the Rtek... are you just modifying a stock engine harness?

updates

I test fit the first rew with the mounts I bought from a company. I don't like the mounts at all. Iplan to build my own this week. I loaded one of the rews into the s4 car. It has the s4 front cover and I have to modify the oil pan to seal with the rew front cover. I have a BNR stage 2 S5 turbo setup and I will run fd 850's on the primary and secondary rails. I have a braided set of oil lines for my s5 and I will have to get one for the rear oil cooler line on this s4. I have not blasted the parts or cleaned everything up yet but I will when I pull everything out.

Any comments are appreciated.

Once I get my mounts situated I will load up my other street ported REW with the t66, power fc, 1600 secondaries, 850 primaries, synapse 50mm wastegate, tial BOV, etc...........

If you are running a s4/5 front cover then why not use a s4/5 pan and drill & tap so you can use the s4/5 mounts. Thats what I did see my post

interesting projects. at a glance it would seem like a lot of work for modest gains, but i guess time will tell.

either way, i respect it.

I never understood why people buy those motive fab mounts. Such a horrible design. Personally, I would either do like Johnny always suggests and drill/tap the center iron and use stock FC mounts, or weld onto the FC subrame and use stock FD mounts.

Motive fab mounts are garbage. /debate.

You said s4 "dizzy" Are you really using a distributor or are you using a, S4/5 CAS?

I would have a long conversation with the the company that produces the Rtek. I don't think that really has the capability you are after when mismatching so many parts. I don't know all there is to know about the Rtek nor do I pretend to but I would imagine it's relatively limited and personally wouldn't trust it to run something that it's not designed for.

yeah those motive fab mounts suck ***. I was going to use the rtek and the s4 CAS but switched back to the fd front cover and am running fd electronics and pfc. The RTEK was just a cheap tuning solution. The Power FC will be much better. Building the harness tonight.

i drilled and tapped my center iron and used the stock FC pan with a baffle plate in order to seal her up,now me and brother are debating about this,he has a complete REW core(that he is rebuilding)and a i have a couple of S5 T2 center irons and i want to build the REW using the S5 center iron(motor is gonna be bridged)with REW intake manis so this way is almost a bolt on affair on his vert but he is skeptical about mismatching iron series, did anybody done this before?

As long as the LIM can bolt up and the runners are in line I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

The primary intake runners on the FC intermediate are considerable lower than the FD. You will need a custom lower intake manifold for this to work.

Or build off the FC rear subframe and use the FD mounts.

rew

Sorry forgot to post updates. I got the S4 car up and running with 850 primary and secondary. Ray from PFS tuned the power FC but I had a leaking injector so I didnt get any max pulls that day. I am going to go back to the dyno for some power pulls soon. Here are some pics and a short video. Enjoy.

What did you do for the flywheel/ transmission? i am doing the same swap and tapping into the middle plate for the mounts but i am wondering if the REW flywheel will work if i use N/a pressure plate & clutch and a N/a tranny?
