Thumbs up My $250 Rx7

Here it is, the 1986 Rx7 I bought. Manual locks and windows ( less wieght ) I think its a base model, it also has a sun roof. Not sure if it has after market parts on it yet or not, but its got a rotary performance sticker under the hood ( rx7.com? ). Anyway, I need to get a battery for it give it a starting shot tommorow. If the engines fucked, I'll just throw a rebuilt 302 block in it from one of the mustangs, if it does work, I am going to drive it for a couple of months while I put the 351EFI in the mustang and then I add a 2 rotor turbo engine to it. Will just have to see what happends, regardless, new carpet and seats are going in as well as a decent sound system. Anyone in the d/fw area ever want to help out, post up!

huh....wha..

its a...little bit harder to "throw" a 302 engine in an RX-7 than you may think.

HUH? WTF? 'ADD' a 2 rotor to the 351?? to the mustang or the rex?

I know its not just a simple engine swap into the rx7. The 351 I'm putting in the mustang left me with a spare 302 block and my buddy Doc @ the mustang shop has done sb 302 in 2nd gen rx7's before, I'll just leech off his knowledge on it

No!! I was talking about ordering a 2 rotor turbo engine from fcs3s.org or whatever

A 2 rotor in a mustang? LOL That'd be the day!

Lol, do you know what is involved in switching it it to a TII, cant just put a new engine in, you need to change basically everything except for the interior. have fun. oh, its cheaper to buy a TII.

Ouch, it's not THAT expensive to do it. All you need is the ECU, longblock engine, engine harness, t2 drivetrain (tranny, LSD, halfshafts, driveshaft) and the boost sensor, then go with an aftermarket boost gauge. Not a big deal, I did it for less than it would've cost me to get a s5 T2 (I even had to rebuild my damn engine!) Plus I learned an unimaginable ammount from doing it.

one of my friends has a 302 mustang engine in his 84 GS. my stock rx7 with low compression is faster than it and he bought it from the shop teacher at my former high school, and he spent a lot of time making it a v8. he used to always talk like v8's are hot ****, but then i burnt him and now he never talks to me about cars anymore
