I want to see how this stuff resists chipping and peeling and all. My friend did a prelude with the stuff and it only lasted a year maybe it was poor prep tho

I'm definatly going to get some pictures of it, once it's assembled. Although that's going to have to wait until my replacement pieces come in, and i can assemble the entire thing.

Sub9lulu - That's what i'm worried about too, so i'll keep an eye on it and see what happens. I'll report it here for anyone playing along at home.

Nonameo - Yeah, i'm definatly using Armor-All on the bra, as long as I have to keep the damn thing on I have been meaning to pick up some aluminum and wheel cleaner, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I think my naugahide will work okay, thanks anyway Nonameo. .. But i did break my passanger door window switch today, if you have one handy

I did this on my vert as well and the results were terrific. Was going to do a write-up, but looks like I was beat to the punch. No problem though, glad someone else is doing this also.

As far as the carpet, I dye'd it with plain-ole RIT dye. Everyone I asked told me it wouldn't work, so I took their advice (NOT) and tried it anyways. 3 bottles of RIT dye and a kiddie pool w/ water. Completely removed the carpet and submerged it in the pool for 2-3 days. Came out jet black. I also removed the door panels and separated the bottom half carpet and dyed it too.

Something to note for you vert owners -- the "carpet" stuff that's behind your seats that covers your spare WILL NOT DYE. It must be a polyester or something. I submerged it also for 2 days, pulled it out and it was barely wet and retained no color. I tried several things and finally ended up w/ a blend of the plastic and vinyl paint on it. Not as thrilled w/ the way it worked out, but it still worked and looks good. btw, my interior was blue before I started. Need to get some pictures up one of these days.

Oh, FYI: The Krylon Fusion paint works great on all of your plastic -- HOWEVER, be aware it's more difficult to get good results on the "non-textured" plastic that is in your car. Otherwise, any of the plastic that has the 'grain' texture to it will look perfect. The smooth plastic has some 'bubbling/pooling' issues -- almost like it was too smooth and the paint had trouble sticking to it. At any rate, that might be easier solved w/ some different preparation -- maybe a fine grit sandpaper or something. I didn't have but a couple pieces that were smooth so didn't take the time to experiment. When it finally bugs me enough and I don't have something else that I'm working on, I'll probably go back and try to correct it. Otherwise everything else was easy as pie and looked great.

Armorall - Spray some on & smooth it out with an air hose or leaf blower..

The spray can carpet dye is horrible, but vinyl dye works great. I'm redoing the interior of my TII and all the vinyl and plastic parts are getting a few coats of Plastikote Vinyl Dye in gloss black. They look just like yours...friggin awesome. As far as chipping, it wont just fleck off, but I was reinstalling the seat and hit a plastic piece with the metal rails on the bottom of the seat and got some scratching. Of course any coating will scratch off if you hit it with metal. I think it'll hold up just fine though.

It will flake off. I used the same **** on my interior. My doors peeled, the storage bins flaked, and the carpet faded. Expect to happen, cause when it sits in the sun it will within a year or 2.

There is dye that is made specifically for leather. It is pretty common.

Ask around at a parts store or auto detailer.

Wow, that looks good. Those painted plastic pieces look EXACTLY like my black S5 pieces. Someone needs to test this on upholstry pronto, I'd like to put this on the fabric on the door to make it all black.

I've done my door carpet w/ dye and the door vinyl w/ the vinyl paint mentioned in this thread.

Looks great. Not sure if your door fabric is different or not though. If you're willing to try this, take your door off and find an inconspicous spot to test it on -- like the back of the door where the fabric wraps around. Or where it's covered up by something. Never know until you try!

Sweet. I have a grey interior, and I like it, but a black would be cool if I can manage to keep it clean. How hard is it to remove the main dash for spray-age?

It works pretty good, I had some lying around and i did one of my panels, it came out great, I did 2 coats, but try tapping it with something like metal and it'll come right off, maybe it was just because it barely finished drying, but it looks great, I helped my friend do his whole ae86 interior today

I just applied some to my burgundy interior. So far I prepped and sprayed the running boards and the floor mats. It looks hot. No problems with it rubbing off yet.

No, it's brilliantly black. If yours is flat, just run some armor-all over it. That should brighten it up a bit.
