Before I make my post of agreement, can I ask one question?
Why is it that so many people hate the mustang, especially in the Rotary world? I don't see people making fun of Chevy's, or Chryslers, unless they are making fun of non rotaries in general?

yea.. i raced this v-6 late model mustang the other day in my 90' GXL NA totally stock. He couldnt catch me. i let off at about 90mph and he did a 'ricer flyby'

I always loved how the old fox body (80's) mustangs where a marvel of engineering. That chassis basically tried to rip it self apart jsut from flexing so much. If you know mustangs, you know what i mean. They wanted to be a convertable so bad!

Good question. I'm not a big fan of the mustang either but I really don't have a problem with the other cars. Maybe its because its a Ford? Conspiracy? I wonder how long till this thread gets moved

With that being said... (yes I noticed my post whoring) My friend has an 85 mustang, which I h8 (Which I let him know this everyday), most mustangs are rather ugly, I have grown a sorta "fondness" for the 88+ fox bodies. But I still feel they handle like *** and are a waste of money to upgrade for street use (get a pre smog).

Oh, I should mention, I have a hatred for Ford. I don't know why, I just do. I think it's mostly due to the fact that I feel most of their cars are ugly. I don't want to say all, because I've seen many a '32 look pretty damn awsome, and my Uncles Falcon was f-ing awsome. Plus I'm just a Chevy/GM guy. And Rotary Enthusiast in training.

mustangs **** me the **** off because they are not original or uncommon. ford can drop a V8 into any thing and call it a sports car but the FC3S is unike and it has the blood of a real sports car flowing through its fuel lines.

What exactly is the "ricer flyby"? Unfortunately I drive an 1989 Toyota Tercel, and am unable to keep up with JACK SQUAT, let alone pass anything.

as much as we don't like mustangs. I don't think the thread title is very appropriate. It makes the rx7 community look bad because everyone knows people from other forums check out other forums. And I wouldn't doubt if some chevy dude or ever ford dude comes along, sees the thread, and posts a link in their form saying "RX7 guys are morons" or something. Keep the threads as "passsive" as possible? in the post though, I guess do whatever. but yea. mustangs are horrible things. yea. things.

Not to call you or anything, but...

What do you consider "late model"? Even the 99' V6 Verts run a faster time (mid-16's) than most COMPLETELY stock GXL's, and they're the slowest of the "newest" late models.

I think a ricer flyby is when after you destroyed them in a race, and you slow down, they keep accelerating and "flyby" you. am I right? lol

I love them. My last REAL car was 96 with the Windsor 232 (less embarasing way of say V6). I've since seen the light and have a far greater appreciation for the 7 than the stang.

Honestly... why? They are TRUTHFULLY the best bang-for-the-buck cars to make fast. Period.

Sure, they're everywhere. Sure there are more stupid mustang owners than... well... anything. But that's because there are so damned many of them.

Other than unorigional, they arn't that bad. They were built mostly for straight-line performance (so they're allowed to handle like ****) and they do that pretty damned well. Ever heard of a completely streetable and reliable 10sec. import for under $20K... on the stock 100K+ Block? Nope. Mustang? I saw 2 last friday night @ the local drag-strip, and 1 while crusing saturday.

Hate to say it, but if I wanted to go fast, cheap, I'd get a 5.0 fox-body.

Also a lot of the mustang owners think their all that. Plus any time me and my freind would walk out to the parkinglot at our high school we could count 15 (at least) mustangs in the back parking lot alone that did not even include the front parking lot. Most of them the same year and model.

Before we continue to make fun of Ford, I should probably remind you guys that Ford does own a portion (i think 40% is the legal limit) of Mazda. So technically the Rex is 40% *shivering* FORD!

Liquid Anarchy makes a good point there. But so Does 87rx7guy. They are EVERYwhere around here. I'm mostly sick of seeing the damn things. and I hate how the handle. But they can get moving in a strait line (who cares about that? j/k)

I think cause they are slow as molassis in stock form (except 03 cobra). A muscle car that has a hard time to run mid 14's...

but they good deal for the money. I think they look cool, not like the 7 though .

I personally hate the attitudes of mustang drivers and therefore hate mustangs but i am not gonna hate on the power they can make and add forced induction to the mix and they are just awesome...

A cam swap (considerably easier than porting a motor) will fix that quickly enough. The beauty of the rotary is the simplicity of it. The beauty of the piston is the complexity. It is very difficult to make quick changes in rotary performance because there isn't much to change. It is very easy to make quick changes in a piston driven car because there are a lot of pieces to change.

I sense an INTENSE hatred for the Ford Motor Company. Sounds like u have personal issues with them. maybe u should go punch it out on a punching bag perhaps.
