Mufflers = Better emmision?
sounds weird, but the guy i work with at work says that mufflers have an effect on passing smog?? currently i have a non-running TII, came with straight pipes front to back, but i will have to put back every single cat onto the system (if you don't already know... stupid California Somg Laws....)
my question is... since i have straight pipes instead of mufflers, would that affect smog??
btw... i always thought mufflers are used to reduce exhaust noise....

Me, too. Mufflers have no emissions-treatment goodies in them whatsoever. Just baffles for noise. Your friend is talking **** - bitch slap him until he promises not to do it again.
Make sure you put in fresh plugs and oil and take her out for a hard run for at least a half hour b4 you take her in.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
there is nothing emissons related as far as the catback exhaust, that is why CA says you can switch it out as long as the cat back replacement does not violate noise restrictions
