muffler w/ turndown in place of main cat
muffler w/ turndown in place of main cat
hey guys anyone done this. I want to save some weight and use one muffler in space under car where cat is. I am wondering about heat and sound issues.
don't forget issues w/ toxic/deadly exhaust gasses either. I run no cats and I have to be inside my car w/ windows up and vent off when I start it or its hard to breathe and eyes water-thats with stock catback. I can't smell the carbon monoxide, but I'm probably breathing a bit of that too. At least run a pipe out to the passenger side and don't let anyone roll that window down.
Before i got my racing beat exhaust i used a 40 series flowmaster in place of the cat with a turndown. Pros/Cons. Pros- Sounded loud and mean as hell!!! If i would have replaced my precat with a 3" DP it would have been sweeter!! Cons: I lost many a brain cells smellin that **** everyday. When I would take a girl out that smell was a definate "Ewwww" for her...which = you dont get laid!!! I wouldnt do it.
My suggestion... Run striaght pipe to the rear and just buy a thermal muffler for $80 and mount it in the stock location. if your going for cheap...use clamps instead of welding it, that way when you get a dp you cn just bolt it up.

Oh ya and one more thing: most any muffler like a turbo/flowmaster/ anything but a thermal type will be funked in a matter of 4-6 weeks under there, then it gets really rasppy...
