Msd ignitions
Does anyone have any experience with the msd 5 series ignitions? I have been offered a 5200 kinda cheap and want to knwo if its worth it. I see everyone using the 6a but no info on the 5 series. Also would I need anything besides the unit itself to make it work , for example an external rmp switch ect...?

The MSD 5 series is just a voltage regulator for your coil.
It does step up the voltage on the primary windings of the coil, but it does little else.
It might or might not increase performance.
Gains are not like any other *CDI* or Capacitive Discharge Ignition box.
Personally, I'd stay away from those things.
This is basically what a Crane Cams "HI-6S" is - note the "S" at the end.

So are you advising i stay away from all ignition systems or that this si a bad kind and i should just spend money on a 6a if i really wanted it. I wasnt planning on putting one on cause I still have bullshit hp i just figured i might do it since i could get the unit for $20. I still might do ti , couldnt hurt right and for $2o its worth a shot. SO would i need anything else to install this unit? The website doesnt say and the guy i might buy it from doesnt know.
