moving coil packs closer

Wanted to kno if anyone done this before. Moving the coil packs closer to the spark plugs. I'm bout to get my MSD 6A and wanted to do this. That's how the FD is the coil packs are right under the plugs. I think they just put it there for less resistance. but will that even make a difference?

I've seen it done but I doubt it's worth the hassle for the tiny performance gains. I'd only bother if you're really keen to tidy up the engine bay. You could see if the FD coils fit under the FC manifold, but I think it might be too tight. At least they're designed to take the heat from sitting right on top of the engine.
There are lots are car's that run coil-on-plug ignition, and a mate of mine used Nissan Skyline plug-mount coils on his 12AT. Rotary plugs run a lot hotter than piston plugs and it kept toasting the coils (which weren't cheap) so he gave it away and went back to 13BT coilpacks. He said the difference was negligible.
