Motor stops after 5 months of idle. '87 TII

Hi,

my friend has a '87 TII. He had the car for about 5 years, but hasn't driven in the car for the last 5 months. His car won't start. He says that the differential is a bit lose. Could this be the problem? Or is the engine fucked up somehow?

The diffy will not have anything to do with the motor running.

Will the engine crank at all? Pull the plugs and put a bit of ATF in the chambers and then try to start it. It will smoke quite a bit so beware.

Have you tried to push start it?

ouch, you can't leave the engine sitting for 5 months. your seals are probably stuck. he should have either filled the engine with ATF before hand. or started it up once a week. you are going to have problems getting it to start. try putting some AFT into the spark plug holes and rotate the engine by hand a couple times around, then let it sit for a day or 2. then try to start again. just a warning, it'll smoke like hell if it starts

hey, you guys that are trying to un-flood your cars are doing it the hard way. By unplugging the EGI fuse, not only are you cutting the fuel, your cutting the SPARK!! Pop the hatch, and peel back your interior panel and unplug the fuel pump connector. It works much better.

It sounds to me like your friend stopped driving the car because of a rear end problem made it undriveable. Now its been sitting up and hard to start. Once you get the engine running, the rear end problem is still going to exist. Hope its nothing big.
