Motor Compatibility

I know this might have been answered a million times.. but..

I was wondering if the 13BT in the 2nd Gen RX7-turbo was basically the same as the 13BTT in the 3rd Gen RXT-twin turbo..
Besides the obvious (one has a twin turbo, and the other is a single turbo)..

Basically, can I swap a 3rd Gen motor into a 2nd Gen?
And whats the difference between both motors?

Thanks

No, not the same. There were port changes, coating changes, gear changes and a whole bunch of other stuff.

The mount locations were changed as well, making installation a bit tricky. There's also no point putting the 13B-REW in the 2nd gen. It woudl take a similar effort to putting in a 20B, so you might as well just go that direction or simply build the 13BT.

This is also a question that is often asked. Search for more details.

Try the 13B-TT twin turbo motor out of the JC cosmo. The intake manifold is better on that engine and it's cheaper than the 13B-REW engine.

What is the JC Cosmo?

| Is right. The 13B-RE is a much better option.

But if your asking questions like you are, then you don't have the money for either swap.

13BT = '86-'92 turbo rotary
13B-REW = '93-'01 FD twin turbo rotary
13BTT = Cosmo twin turbo rotary

Hi

If you want to swap your motor, the latest 13B-REW is the best.
It is also popular in Japan.
Basically, mounting hole is different.
But there are several swapping kits available in Japan.

All of the components of 13B-REW were altered.
Rotor itself is stronger and lighter, which gives better response.
Apex seal is better.
Rotor housing is better.
Serge tank is much better.
I have been asked to get FD serge tank and
throttle body from several FC owner members here.
But Japanese want to get them too.
It is difficult.

And ECU is much beter.
So everything is better.
If you really want to do this, it will cost much.
But it is very effective.
I can help you.
PM me for more details.
