Most regretted mod you've done

There is a good thread like this in the 1st Gen section and being new to the 2nd Gen I'd sure like to hear peoples honest responses.

TB mod (well, it was done by previous owner). It basically hurts driveability (more likely to stall without dashpot, unstable cold idle unless you resort to trickery with the various idle screws) and all it saves you is two stinkin coolant lines. I didn't notice a difference in performance/response at all between a completely stock TB and a fully modded TB.

Building an intake manifold without anywhere to mount a BAC, and also not buying a Microtech configured to run a BAC. Both are going to be a real pain to rectify.

regrets, ive had a lot

1. buying a t2 at night
2. putting the stock s4 turbo and precat on it, talk about slow and laggy
3. the rb springs/tokiko blues, got em used and they were not much better than 150,000 orginals
4. every apexi part ive ever owned.... exhausts look cool, but the fit isnt as good as greddy/hks/RB, and they sound like ***
5. i had to cut a lot for the 20b, which kinda sucked later
6. putting a cat back on it, it passed smog, but wasnt any fun to drive!
7. tb mod, totally pointless...
8. not my car, but corbeau seats, suck!
9. harnesses in a street car!
10. manual steering rack, ratio is way slow... although its still lighter effort than my bmw...

Having a JDM 13B engine swapped into my vert after blowing the N/A engine. At the time I had no experience with performance mods for rotary engines and it is my first turbo engine of any kind. I'm still learning on the fly and catching up with knowledge and ability to work on my car.

It's a half-joke cause any sunny day the top is down and boost pressure builds I can't help but smile. But man have there been many expensive lessons learned along the way.

I just had to point out....this was my 500th post!!! For whatever it's worth I've never had this many posts on any forum.

I've been really stingy about mods. After all its an N/A. However the one mod I ended up changing back was taking out the stock air box, putting in a cone air filter and building a "hot air" box around it. Absolutely no change in performance. Put the stock air box back in with a new filter.

Nitrous.....

Just boost it right and be done with it.

Also open dowpipe. At WOT and full boost, I am certain it cracks pavement with the vibrations.

I kinda regret doing my TII swap, since it's taken so long. I've had several other issues which I had never foreseen.

FWIW, new ones are $100 at the dealer and made of a much more forgiving plastic. They also aren't brittle after 20+ years of sun.

1. Buying a wrecked RX was my first mistake.
2. Doing the first mod on it(intake), and not keeping it stock was my 2nd mistake. Because it made me want to do many other mods after.
3. Then the throttle body mod was probably the worst mod I've done because I have a high rough idle after that.

It is still great fun to pretend I'm a mechanic. That is why it is still around. And because when it is running, the Turbo is soooo much fun!

I had an '88 GXL that I decided to swap from auto to manual transmission. It was a bigger project that I had anticipated for my skills at the time. It took forever and I ended up getting stuck on a stupid thing like the trans cross member for months.

I ended up buying my TII in the meantime and actually sold the car with the unfinished swap. I should have kept the GXL the way it was and had two drivable 7's.

Buying it. I wish I would have waited for a cleaner/lower mileage one.
