Common tII intake leaks are right before the turbo, right after the turbo, and the little hose which goes from the hard pipe above the turbo to the BAC. All three of these were cracked on my car.

I also remember spraying a bunch of carb cleaner (actually I used Seafoam) right inside the turbo compressor becasue it was just dirty and oily from 141k miles of normal use. That alone raised my boost about 1.5 psi (Back to stock I guess)

Keep in mind any intake leak from the airflow meter to the motor will make a crappy idle and lower boost.

it idles better now it rarely dies.
