More on locked throttle...

I posted a couple of days back about how my throttle-body locked-up at 4/5 throttle and almost killed me. Well, after all it's *partially* my fault-- I bought a crappy product.

I've been running a generic "3A Racing" air filter with a MAS adaptor for quite some time now. I bought the filter at a Checkers Autoparts store (same as Schuks, Kragen). Well, the stupid cap on the inner funnel unglued, and found it's way to the lower butterfly in the throttle body.

Everything seems ok with the T-Body now that the foreign object has been removed, but I remain angry. My alternator is now dead, probably due to the prolonged redline incurred by the object.

My fault for buying a crappy product... But I wish I could lay my hands on the bastards that allowed this item to get to the store shelves...

Wow that is just plain ludicrous. Maybe you did buy a crappy product, but I think that goes beyond crappy. That is downright criminal neglect. A piece failing like that could cause a similar problem on millions of different cars. I have no idea what you should do about that besides maybe contacting the manufacturer. I have a feeling you'll just get the brush off. Glad you found your problem, now go buy an K&N filter .

PJ. Come grab my alternator. It's brand new and collecting dust. S4 alternator.

That air filter looks gay. lol. Just run it like that.

K&N has some for $50 or so. check their site & Dealers. I picked up mine for $55 shipped for my 4 inch turbo inlet. (T66)
