month away from doing t2 swap

i am going to order my 87 t2 motor soon.... currently have an 87 gxl atomatic... i know it is gooing to be some work but i am up for the challenge. what i do need help with though is figuring out what i need exactly and how much.... =\ i read the write up from the archive but i am needing help on the auto-manual as well.i will be doing swap first then i will do suspension and brakes.

i am having problems finding prices on the ECU, and the differential... and i saw something about needing a new crossmember to support the manual tranny.

if your using the turbo transmission your going to need turbo driveshaft and turbo differential. And should probably get some nice mounts cause everyth ing is already going to be off. I you swap to a na manual transmission you will need to run na flywheel and clutch on the turbo motor and can leave your na driveshaft. ECU is about 50-100 dollars check the for sale section if you dont have one bydec 20 hit me up ill be at my moms i have one there. Differential you want the s4 clutch type goes from 200-300. those are rough estimates from what ive seen some people might one more money some people want less the more time you look better you'll find. Not sure about the crossmember, i never did a auto to manual swap but the tranny mounts arnt on the crossmember only the engine mounts and the tranny bolts to engine for front support so i dont think you need it...not positive. Anyway good luck make sure you mark the tranny bolts they are different sizes and alot of fun

what do you mean WHY? the rotors are different compression, the OMP is different, the wiring is different, the ECU is different...

if you want to keep things simple then stick with the S4 T2 motor.

As far as $$ estimates, well, that mostly depends on your luck, bartering abilities and how well you can LOOK for the parts you need. I know ppl that have spent 5K while others are under that.

S4 unless you don't mind doing some re-wiring and electrical work.

this could have been found using the search feature:

i have done everything you are wanting to do,

AUto to 5speed swap, and NA to TII swap, i have maby only spent 2.5-3K on my setupd encluding the car.

my setup includes, FMIC, 3" Turbo Back Exhaust, S-AFCII, 6 puck clutch, TII Diff. tranny, etc.,

first of all the Auto to 5 speed swap is simple, you'll need the clutch pedal the CLutch Master and Slave cylinder (spl?) and a clutch. and you'll have to make a bracket to go from the Auto Cross member to the 5speed tranny.

for the TII swap all i did was remove all the emissions and there was no rewireing needed everything was plug and play, PM me if you would like more details.

and both swaps are easy if you have mechanic skills, dont let people say its difficult, its not....
