Molding The TII Hood Scoop?

I saw a pic on here a while ago and it had a car with a stock hood that someone has molded the front piece of the stock scoop to make it flow a little better. I want to do this on my 10th AE before i paint it. So i need suggestions of how to do it and what to use.

Shineauto. not sure who did the original design.

oh, i misunderstood you question...

Would probably be easier to get a stock TII hood and mod it, or just cut your and find a scoop you like cut it out and weld it in and then make it look nice. Or do something with fiberglass (mold, then reverse mold, then mold your part)

Best of luck!

I have a TII hood on the car. What i want to do is mold the front piece of the stock hood scoop into the rest of the hood. Eliminating the lines around it making it look like one solid piece just like some people mold a body kit to the fenders.

Perhaps I'm using the wrong term when i say mold but now you get the idea.

I dont know how to explain this any better. I dont want a bigger or different scoop. I want to take the stock scoop on the stock hood and eliminate the lines. To make it kind of look like a carbon fiber hood like the one in the link below. See how it looks like all one piece i want to use body filler or fiberglass to make the hood look like its all one piece. To make it look as though the hood was made in one solid piece

what does a fmic have to do with making the hood look better?

this is simply a small astetic mod to make the hood look better.

I do plan on a FMIC eventually. This car runs good now and isnt getting mods until my vert is done.

There is no good way to bond aluminum and plastic and paint over both and have it last...

I'm wondering if people even bother to read these threads. For the people who apparently can't read i'll lay it out simply.

1) He does NOT want to mold a TII scoop onto an NA hood
2) He does not want to make the TII scoop any bigger/larger/flow better
3) He wants to use filler to fill in the gaps between the hood and the plastic scoop part that attaches at the front.

kthxgbai.

I didn't want to give this secret away but you will gain 2-3hp by filling those cracks and reducing the aerodynamic drag on the hood.

Some bondo around the cracks. A little sanding and elbow grease and it'll look like it came factory.

Brand depends on what your use to working with. Different people will recommend different products depending on how easy it is to work with or the way it sets up. In the end, its about not asking questions and doing it to see how it comes out.

People come on here and spend too much time researching and too little time doing it. People that do body work recommend using special tools to pull dents. Wanna know what I used? Some water and a plunger. It worked better than I could have ever imagined.

Just a side note. Don't use too much hardener.

kittyhair is what its typically called, long or short strand reinforced body filler.. or bondoglass if you wanna grab something at your local auto store.. use that in there for most of it, than once over with a good body filler. Easiest way to do it. tho im not a fan of molding anything.

Good luck.

This is what i was refearing to in my head when i said fibergalssing it. I think this will be the strongest and best way. Just did a 97 f150 truck(work truck) the quarters were about 1in tall x 7in long ate by rust and i just fiberglassed it, shapped it, slapped some iceing on it sanded it primed painted, you would never know it was rusted out before.

Now there is really no good way of doing this it may crack eventually due to the different expansion rates. I would sand the areas down to bare metal, scuff with 36 grit. Bond with short strand, finish with 2 part polyester finishing putty and prime, wet sand, paint.
